How much did you get or are you getting? We had about 4-6 inches and then hours of sleet even though it was in the low 20s (maybe 2-3 inches) and then more snow (another couple inches but it’s still going). The sleet is now frozen so you barely sink in when you walk.
Oh yeah, he’s off. There probably isn’t a school open around us for 100 miles (well north, south, and east. I’m not sure about west). Even IU is closed which almost never happens.
Sure is. We were trying to decide if we wanted to try to get someone out here to clear our 1000ft driveway but the guy whose always done it sold his truck and I’m not sure if I can find someone else.
I wasn’t able to get out of the carport this morning, so walked over to work and found the county commissioners had just declared a snow emergency and were closing down for today. I stayed around and worked anyway. Its so much more efficient without those pesky taxpayers coming in to interrupt my lofty thoughts. I heard the counties east and west of us shut down too. So did IU and they never close!
We have about 6 inches on the ground. I decided to work from home again – but I can’t because our bldg has a power outage and I can’t log in from home. Oh well 🙂
Yep, they have a big yellow patch on each cheek and a wide yellow band across their tail, which is most visible from underneath. Plus, most of their feathers have a thin yellow edging.
Luna popped some stitches last night and is currently at the vet being rezipped up. I’ll pick her up in a few hours. With any luck the puppies might sleep until then.
I’m hardly ever home on Wednesdays and I had left the teevee on after watching the news to see what the final snow tally was and … and … and it just happened. It was on. And I watched it.
Even thought I worked from home today it ended up being stressful – the power outage in the morning caused a lot of problems – I think I needed something mindless. And that certainly was mindless.
Aren’t there shows that come on in the winter – after the superbowl. I know the new Joss Whedon show will start in February. (And last about 3 episodes probably). But there must be others.
I’m looking forward to Medium starting again, but everything else is just crap. How slim are the pickings when they have to redo Knight Rider and 90210? What’s next…Baywatch?
You know, I started to laugh at the question but then I stopped and thought – it isn’t a totally bad concept so it’s conceivable that someone could make a good show out of it. But no. It isn’t. It’s pretty much the same only the car is more high tech.
The car still isn’t the problem. Although the main character isn’t as annoying as David Hasselhoff. But the watcher group was not picked for their acting skill – and it probably takes a lot of acting skill to make talking at a computer screen interesting.
Switching topics, last year we had a litter of Siberian Tiger cubs born at our zoo and they got to play in the snow with a snowman today. They are still babies even though they look BIG. Link. (You have to watch the commercial first, sigh.)
I love watching local television when I’m in other cities to see what kind of annoying commercials they have. The Dirt Cheap commercials are really bad. I’m glad you saw it 🙂
Yeh, local TV ads are a corker and sometimes very telling. When we were in NZ last year that the highest production value TV ad waw for a commercial production sheep product.
It’s so hot today that even the birds are panting.
Luna is parked in front of the fan. The puppies are burrowing tunnels through the bedding.
Tasmania, being furthest from the equator of any part of Australia, stays cooler than the mainland. So our temps have been in the upper 80’s instead of 100+. But that’s hot for here.
Luna had to have her stitches completely redone this morning (she had herniated fairly spectacularly over night), which meant she had to be knocked out. She’s still a bit groggy – poor baby.
I’m trying not to think of the expenses. We definately won’t break even, even if we sold all the pups instead of keeping one. At least our vet is very good about not charging for follow up procedures, like the one this morning.
Of course, they’ve done very well by us.
I will give her lots of attention, and tell her it’s from you all.
and of course, the school district calls at 5 AM to let us know. Grr.
How much did you get or are you getting? We had about 4-6 inches and then hours of sleet even though it was in the low 20s (maybe 2-3 inches) and then more snow (another couple inches but it’s still going). The sleet is now frozen so you barely sink in when you walk.
I think we got more sleet than snow…it’s too dark to really tell yet.
We were forecast 3-5 inches, but I doubt we got that much.
Jim off again today?
Oh yeah, he’s off. There probably isn’t a school open around us for 100 miles (well north, south, and east. I’m not sure about west). Even IU is closed which almost never happens.
Tis a winter wonderland!
Sure is. We were trying to decide if we wanted to try to get someone out here to clear our 1000ft driveway but the guy whose always done it sold his truck and I’m not sure if I can find someone else.
How’s town look?

I was wrong; I think we did get about 4 inches. Nice crunchy crust on top too.
And my wonderful neighbor came and plowed my drive, just because he’s a nice guy. I think I need to bake some cookies for them today. 🙂
but it’s pretty clear that it doesn’t need my permission.
Snow yesterday. We’ve probably got double this now — though with the sleet it’s hard to tell.

purty.

Wow, what a stroke of luck, I mean, bummer that you can’t log in. 🙂
I’m doing online CE courses today. Big fun.
It’s back up. sigh. I mean .. all right!
Oh Whoa! When I clicked to enlarge, I saw the reflection of bare trees in the water. How cool!! This is beautiful!
Awwwwww… Bunny and puppies in same photo. That calls for a big AAWWWWWWW. Too cute! and very sweet.
I bagged it today. Much snow and now sleet here. I actually did make a good faith try to get into work but turned back after a few miles.
As a parent that was clearly the right thing to do. You wouldn’t be any good to the B2boy frozen into a snow bank until the April thaw.
It probably was the right thing to do but I’ll have to put up with a coworker’s frustration when I go in tomorrow. A small price to pay I guess.
Re-posting the Yellow-tailed Black cockatoo sunset photos, since they fell off the last lounge.
Reminds me of one of those hidden pictures things in the old Highlights magazine. How many are there….six?
I pretty sure you can only see six in the photo, but I counted seven in the trees. From the grating sound they make, I’d say two were juveniles.
Here they are from the other side.
Cool! It looks like they have yellow cheeks.
Yep, they have a big yellow patch on each cheek and a wide yellow band across their tail, which is most visible from underneath. Plus, most of their feathers have a thin yellow edging.

Nifty. I love the way they seem to be extensions of the trees.
I’m embarrassed to say that I just watched the new Knight Rider.
Oh God. There’s nothing on anymore. The only two shows I like are on at the same time…Grey’s Anatomy and The Office.
I’m hardly ever home on Wednesdays and I had left the teevee on after watching the news to see what the final snow tally was and … and … and it just happened. It was on. And I watched it.
I just took a shower.
Ergh. I’m so sorry.
We finished up our last episode of Weeds on Saturday night…now we have nothing left to watch.
Even thought I worked from home today it ended up being stressful – the power outage in the morning caused a lot of problems – I think I needed something mindless. And that certainly was mindless.

They are redoing 90210? wow.
Yes, with a cast of young’uns that I am totally unfamiliar with. Shannen Doherty apparently plays the old lady in it. I think I’ll die now.

groan.
Unbelievable.
I’m embarrassed that someone’s even made a new Knight Rider (so, was it any good?).
Just one more reason we don’t have a television (we’d only get four channels anyway).
I don’t imagine you’d have time to watch TV anyway, what with all the puppy butt wiping.
so, was it any good?
You know, I started to laugh at the question but then I stopped and thought – it isn’t a totally bad concept so it’s conceivable that someone could make a good show out of it. But no. It isn’t. It’s pretty much the same only the car is more high tech.
I don’t think it was the car that was the problem with the original.
A related link for the adventurous.

Very cute tigers, but the Dirt Cheap liqueur store ad was surreal.
We do “enrichment” at our house as well.
I got a pizza ad. Was it the giant chicken?
It’s amazing that they are less than a year old. I think they were born in April. They are HUGE.
Perhaps you should do some enrichment videos 🙂
I got the Dirt Cheap ad too. It’s nice to know your area has more annoying commercials than mine.

I was reading about your hot spell. Temps near 100?
Tasmania, being furthest from the equator of any part of Australia, stays cooler than the mainland. So our temps have been in the upper 80’s instead of 100+. But that’s hot for here.

Poor girl…she’s been through a lot. I hope those pups remember her on Mother’s Day.
Those are getting to be quite expensive pups.
Poor Luna. Give her some pets from her friends at BT.

If only I’d hung around in the cafe instead of reading last night, I could have discussed awful tv shows and annoying tv commercials. Drat. ;P
Oh and Luna and the puppies … never mind.
Jim’s out of school for the third day in a row.
Morning/afternoon/evening all.
