Who’s everyone rooting for? Or not?
Pittsburgh, my regular season nemesis.
I wish to hell the Super Bowl would be played in one of the teams home stadium. This would be a much better game in Pittsburgh. Actually, I couldn’t care less about the game, I just like the wings.
I would really love to see a Superbowl played under real February conditions, instead of this fair-weather or indoor sissy stuff.
Someday, when I’m the head of the NFL…
At least my stomach bug has gone away in time for the game.
What have you been up to this weekend?
that’s why my favorite week of football is the week of the AFC and NFC Championship game. I love watching them play in the Meadowlands or in Pittsburgh or Cleveland or Chicago or Green Bay or Foxboro.
The Super Bowl is a let down by comparison.
However, I think there is something to be said for letting the championship be played in optimal conditions.
No, I think it should be like the World Series and damn the weather conditions. My favorite memories are watching the Indians play in late October in snow flurries….admittedly not very often 🙁
I think it should always be played in Green Bay. But then I don’t really like football 🙂
I’m really only interested in Bruce at halftime. When should that be? About 8?
kickoff is at 6:28 (5:28 your time). A half of football usually takes about 1:15 minutes, with the first half going quicker than the second. But the Super Bowl has more commercials. Sometime around 8pm (7pm for you) should be about right.
I can never tell with the Superbowl – it just always seems to drag on …. But I’ll wake myself up for Bruce 🙂
I want to see that, and the 3D commercial (we even have our 3D glasses here to watch with!).
I bet BooMan knows when Halftime will be…
hey, I didn’t know there was going to be a 3D commercial. I haven’t paid much attention this year since no one I know is having a superbowl party.
where did you get 3D glasses? I read that they’re making a 3D porn movie. Ick.
I made this one: chocolate and pear cake.
That blog has a lot of interesting recipes. We made the roasted butternut squash and chickpea salad on her front page a few days ago.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm. It’s almost pear season here, and it’s always chocolate season.
oh yum, that sounds fantastic. Are you having people over for the game?
The salad looks good too.
When I was at the American Indian museum we had a soup that I want to find the recipe for: Roasted crabapple, pumpkin and chestnut soup. It was yummy.
It’s just us and CbtY tonight, but I needed a little bit of fun today, so cooking is it.
I have to run out and get flatbreads for our fig preserve and proscuitto pizzas…but I have a nice squash apple bisque recipe you might like. I’ll post it when I get back (shouldn’t be too long).
I’m trying the whiskey and beer cupcakes next.
I’ve been looking through it and there are some great recipes.
I love reading recipes. I seldom make them 🙂
we need some trolls.
huh?
Oh! NOW I get it. Troll recipes. 🙂
I only found it a couple of weeks ago, but it’s definitely made me feel like cooking some new recipes again. I’ve been in a total cooking rut the past few months.
And those cupcakes look like fun. Do you think CBtY might want them for his birthday in a few weeks? 😉
Just a bit of glorious on and off drizzle.
Everyone is enjoying the end of the stinking hot. Although the damp puts a bit of a kink in my twice-a-day puppy towel laundering schedule (since we line dry).
Last night I actually slept in my own bed, and I only had to get up four times to deal with the puppies.
Luna’s got her appetite back – to the tune of at least four-and-a-half pounds of raw meat every day, plus some kibble, a few slices of bread, etc. From the exponential growth of the pups, it’s clearly passing straight through her and onto them.
She looks like she’s bonded with the pups.
She’s definitely gone-all-mother-on-them. Yesterday I was holding one on my chest while sitting on the couch and she came over and snorted and snorted her, basically saying, ‘give her back”.
Awww. That’s so cute.
That’s really cute. And I love the look on her face in the picture above.
That’s the best photo yet.
Oh that is such a wonderfully sweet picture. It sure put a big grin on my face.
Resistance is futile.
Oh my god, how did you get them all lined up like that, lying exactly the same way?
It was almost enough to make me switch my choice to the Steelers.
On the other hand, Mama Man Eegee is rooting for the Cardinals and I’d like her to be a happy mama. 🙂
Touchdown!
it was a rough night from the two minute warning on…
I was so bummed when they got so close and then the Steelers came up with that touchdown…
I figured she was not a happy fan.
I admit to lining them up, but they did the matching feet and tails all by themselves.
I don’t know if that Doritos commercial was special for the SuperBowl but it made me laugh out loud.
I’m not liking these Clydesdale commercials so much. Dumb. New management has bad taste in commercials.
I always wait to read the write-ups on the commercials after the games — that way I don’t have to watch the crappy ones.
We liked that one too. I have been trying to explain football, the down system specifically, to my daughter in law, and it brought back memories of my dad explaining it to me during Monday night football with Howard Cosell and Dandy Don Meredith. She’s just frustrated now. It might be the winter lager.
Well she can always ignore the games and just look for some adorable tushes — running back, wide receivers, and quarterbacks have the cutest butts.
She thinks her husband has the cutest tush. That might be the winter lager too.
Better the butt in hand … so to speak.
Did you bother explaining that the yellow line doesn’t really exist? Or just figure that she’ll never go to a real game?
Here’s how I like to explain football. A bunch of guys divide up into two teams. They don’t have to be the really great looking in shape athletes – fat guys can play football too. They line up. They run into each other. Then they all stand around and talk for a while. Then they line up and run into each other again. This goes on for hours. If you are lucky it is a passing game and you can actually see the football. If you’re really lucky it is a GOOD passing game and every time they line up they’ve moved down the field a LOT. If you are unlucky – it’s a running game, you can never see the football and they move incrementally down the field.
If you are really unlucky you are watching a running game live, in an outdoor stadium in subzero temperatures. You have to REALLY like your date to do that.
And after you watch it live, you amble out of the stadium in subfreezing temperatures with thousands of drunk fans and you sidestep all of the puddles of vomit and urine except that last one, which you slip in and fall on your ass.
Zactly.
This is after you sat for hours with a redneck Republican behind you yelling into your ear.
That Teleflora commercial was really obnoxious.
You can always tell when a bunch of guys with the mentality of 18 year olds designed the commercials.
I liked the cheetoh commercial with the pigeons.
Me too. I liked it a lot.
Snack chips are having a good superbowl.
That one was awful. Is it time for the 3D one yet?
and CBtY and I have managed to offend his frogliness with our lack of commitment to watching every play of the game…
However, the fig and proscuitto flatbreads were a hit.
How about that 100-yard run for a TD?
so you don’t have to watch every play.
That was an amazing moment. Superbowls are usually so boring. But that was exciting.
But now … BRUUUUUUUUCE!
Yaaay!
They’ve really gotten better and better with the entertainment…remember the year with the stones? WAAAAY better than Janet and Justin.
Someone is claiming that I’ve only watched the kickoff and replays… 🙂
his frogliness?
baaaaahahahahahahahahaha!
Loved that intro for the E Street Band.
I’d like to hear Thunder Road.
That’s my favorite Bruce song. Cuz it’s about Mary.
Aren’t they all about Mary? 🙂
I love Clarence Clemons.
Clarence could barely walk when I saw them last fall – it did most of the concert in a big chair. I’m glad he’s up and about.
I love Steve.
Him too.
I never knew this: (via wikipedia):
Van Zandt is married to actress Maureen Van Zandt (formerly Maureen Santora) who portrays his wife Gabriella Dante in the TV series The Sopranos. They married in New York City on December 31, 1982.[7] Bruce Springsteen was the best man at the ceremony, which was presided over by Reverend Richard Penniman (Little Richard). Singer Percy Sledge sang his classic “When a Man Loves a Woman” at the reception.[8]
Sounds like a fun party.
Damn I wish I’d been invited. I’m sure I was free that night.
Wasn’t he on The Sopranos too?
wait, that’s probably what it means “portrays his wife”.
No cable you know – never seen it.
Ahh. Yeah, he was on the Sopranos. I didn’t realize that was his real-life wife on the show, though.
Oh look, the football is back on again.
The best of Silvio Dante
um, thanks I guess. I stopped watching half way through.
I would never have watched that show even if I had cable – based on those clips. Ugh.
yup, Bruce’s guitar player is a sociopath.
Well that made me want to go out and buy me some Bridgestone.
Watch out for UFOs.

Morning/afternoon/evening all.
Good morning!
Are you back iin the freezer? Still mild here, 40 this morning.
We’re back below freezing but it’s in the low 30s and we’re supposed to warm up and stay in the 40s for several days starting Thursday.
Just checked our forecast, the rest of the week much colder 🙁
Maybe our warm-up will get to you in time for the weekend.
True. Sat/Sun look better.
So nice weekend to walk to a get a cupcake. 🙂
Hmm – there’s an idea…
A good, old friend is coming in from Europe for business this week – but will also spend the weekend.
We’re supposed to get some more snow tomorrow.
But yesterday and today are positively tropical compared to last week.
Tonight actually. 🙁
Synchronized stretching.
Synchronized sucking.
Too cute.
If I were you, I don’t think I’d be able to do anything besides help Luna take care of the puppies and sit around boggling at how adorable they are.
Add in laundry and working on the magazine and you’ve pretty much described my day.
By the end of this week they should be opening their eyes and starting to stand up and take some tottering steps. Until then it’s eat poop and pee.
We’re off to get CBtY’s bottom braces put on this morning, which means we have about 6 more months to go before they come off.
For some reason, I’m the only one who’s excited. 🙂
Having spent the weekend moving my mom to her new apartment and then snow shoveling after work tonight, I have little energy for anything other than puppy photo lurking.
Well then, I’d better post some. Brb.
I love how the one pupppy is sleeping on Luna’s face. I am definitely assimilated.
More borg puppies
Well, you made me de-lurk for those! Too precious!
It’s kinda hard to believe that I’ve only got about a week-and-a-half before I have to build higher sides for the nest – otherwise they’ll tottering be all over the house.
One of these days I’m going to get a decent shot of a flying bird.
This will have to do in the mean time.
Not bad for making do … the fan of the tail feathers and the delineation of the individual feathers are particularly nice. Not the puppy borg of course but still pretty entrancing.
