Who’s got some fresh snow at their house this morning? We got a dusting overnight, but I’ve heard threats of 3 to 10 inches later today. Of course, it could just be a grocery store stimulus plan designed to create a run on eggs and milk…
Morning CG.
It’s snowing here, but at my house it’s not sticking. It’s supposed to keep snowing until around 11:00 am, so we might get a little on the ground. Of course in two days it will be up in the mid 70’s again.
WOW! You (and SN) were the last people I would have thought would be getting snow today!
It’s snowing here now after getting progressively colder all day yesterday. I made a nice big pot of ribollita yesterday, so we’re all set for staying home and hanging out today, maybe taking a walk in the snow later.
How are you feeling this morning? Have they rescheduled your stenting yet?
The ribollita sounds good. The local channels have been on just about all night reporting on the snow and showing live coverage of it.
Feeling fair this morning. Nope, no rescheduling for the stent yet. I’ll be glad when it’s done though. It’s getting to be a hassle limping around everywhere, and I just can’t get use to using a cane.
It’s funny with the snow though. South of us they’re having heavier snow than us. Damn! 🙂
Everybody here loves that soup. I made mine with applewood smoked bacon instead of pancetta and spinach instead of kale in a use-what-you-have-on-hand moment, and I don’t add the bread to the soup, either. It was great.
I hope they’re able to get you on the schedule soon so you can get around. Are the rels helping you out, or driving you crazy?
That’s just bizarre that it’s snowing harder south of you. So much for global warming.
I like the use-what-you-have-on-hand type of cooking. Today George and I are going to fight over a Maire Callenders chicken pot pie. Just kidding, but those are my favorite prepared chicken pot pies. 🙂
On the stent it’s not the schedule, it’s more of a disconnect between my GP and the insurance company. I was on the phone Thurs. and Fri. with both and hopefully they’ll have it worked out by this week.
Yep I know it’s bizarre of the South of us snowing. I was looking at the radar and when the clouds are coming toward my town, they seem to split to the left and right of us. It appears the weather gods are screwing with me. 😉
Especially since we didnt’ get any. 🙂 Just cold temps. 🙁
Morning Andi.
The local channels are showing where it sticking to the ground all around us, but no snow on the ground here. I want at least two feet on the ground. That way I could throw George out into it and see if he could dig a tunnel back to the patio. 🙂
Poor George! When the snow gets deeper than an inch or two, we have to shovel a path for Phoebe to go out in. She’s a bit of a princess, our silly little shih-tzu.
That sound like George when it rains. I have to pick him up and carry him out to the middle of the yard. He will not go on wet grass.
The weather last night looked like the snow was going to Alabama in the morning and spend most of its time in Atlanta and points north and east.
I’ve been through two feet of snow. Trust me, you never want to see that much.
Oh Andi, I been in that much snow and more, just not down here. Except for having to dig my car out, I didn’t mind it at all. Of course I was much younger at the time. 😉
East of us they’re getting a lot more snow and it should hit over at Atlanta later on today.
Well enjoy the flakes (including the ones that live around you). 🙂
I certainly will. 🙂
You can blame me for this one. We’re dry, cold, and very windy here.
I think boran2, ask, and I might be getting the worst of this one. I just checked, and the expected snowfall is up to 6-10 inches. I think CBtY will be excited about the prospect of a day off from school tomorrow…me, not so much.
Good morning, everyone!
Up since 3.30 🙁
It’s become colder since then and we’ve had light flurries the last 2 hours. The worst will hit tonight/tomorrow morning.
Morning Ask.
I hope you’ll enjoy the snow as much as I am. 🙂
You can always go cheer yourselves up with a cupcake. 🙂
Ugh. I hate those wee-hour awakenings. Somebody here had a similar problem.
Big plans for a nap later?
Very tempting, especially when looking outside.
Is the sweater done? Perfect day for it.
I’m happy to not be in the track of this one — it’s freaking March and I’m ready for spring. Too bad we’re having very unspring like temp — tonight’s low is 12. 🙁
I’m ready for spring too. We keep getting those little teasing tastes of it, followed by another arctic blast.
It’ll be here soon though. What I’m not looking forward to is the time change. I’m enjoying having it be light out when CBtY gets on the bus at 7:00.
I’m with you on DST. Making it start earlier and end later was a stinky idea.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the extra daylight in the evening, but as a mostly morning person, I have no problem with the sun arriving early. Especially since that’s the quietest part of my day here.
Well I don’t like it. If we were on Central time like we should be, it would be okay; but since we’re so far west, DST really screws everything up.
Thought I’d show ya’ll the latest skycam of Birmingham.
Just heard they had their first accident on the interstate there.
I’ll bet driving is insane there. I know the few years I lived in a place that didn’t get much snow, 1/2 inch could destroy most people’s ability to drive.
Everything is being cancelled and the news is putting up all the announcements. Thanks goodness it’s not a work or school day. Yep when there’s any amount of snow on the ground down here, I stay home. Then again, the snow isn’t going to stay on the ground for long.
Well I hope the kids get at least one day off out of it — it would be awfully disappointing for them otherwise.
Well I’m like Ask and have been up all night, so I think it’s time for me to get a nap.
Everyone have a good snowy day.
Good night, FM!
I decided to take George out before I took my nap. It is really coming down right now. An hour ago there was no snow on the top of houses or the ground. Now, all the roofs are covered and it’s sticking to the ground and trees. OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY!!!!!!!
Now back to regularly scheduled napping time.
Happy dreaming of snowy landscapes (after you get up, a picture of the pond would be very, very nice).
Afternoon Andi.
Sorry but no pictures. The snow was melted and gone by the time my nap was over.
I bet all of the excitement will prevent you from sleeping.
And using a cane isn’t so bad. You can pretend you’re Dr. House and they don’t come any cooler.
Morning everyone. I found out wine and keyboards don’t mix again last night. This time I spilled it into the keyboard. D’oh! I took out the battery and let it dry overnight and it’s almost working, except it feels like there is a carpet under the keys and they don’t have that delightful click click sound. I’ll have The Boy take it apart and clean it if he ever makes it home from the mountains in the snow/sleet/ice/rain mixture.
Just in case it doesn’t come back — I got a nice (good tactile response) no-useless features Logitech keyboard for $9.95.
Afternoon SN.
Nope the excitement of snow didn’t keep me from sleeping. You should know better than that. 🙂
I agree that Dr. House is cool, however, I’d have to come down a few notches to be in his coolness category. Hah! 🙂
I also agree with Andi about the keyboard. They’re pretty cheap right now.
.
It seems like only yesterday that the UK was blanketed in a thick covering of snow as we shivered through one of the coldest winters on record.
But now, just a few weeks later, snowdrops are blossoming, daffodils are blooming and the first lambs of the year are being born. Spring, it would appear, has finally arrived.
However, Dutch winter coldest in twelve years resulting in a late spring compared to the warm winter of 2007-2008.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Good morning all! Congrats on your snow, Family Man! We’ll be heading back to the hospital later to sit with Mom. Its not looking very good for her at this point.
I’m so sorry. We’ll be thinking good thoughts for you.
Thanks Andi.
We’re sending some positive energy your (and your mom’s) way today, ID.
Thanks so much everybody.
Sorry to hear this, ID.
I hope things improve for you and your mom today.
I hope you get better news today, ID.
Sorry to hear that, Id!
She is lucky to have close family nearby.
I am so sorry to hear this ID. I’m sending all the good thoughts I can, and I hope she improves. Be sure during all of this to take care of yourself also.
sending warm wishes to you and your family, ID.
Good morning!
It’s getting cold again! Only 22 this morning and it looks like 4-5 inches of dry snow accumulated overnight.
And something like another 6-8 inches to go?
Hard to say. The forecast says it should be snowing for another few hours, but it hasn’t since I got up.
Young asklet is with me and will probably hope for a snow day, but there won’t be one the way things look now.
Maybe it’s just taking a break. Snowing is hard work, ya know.
OK. Big happy smile a few minutes ago as we found this online:
School is closed. Click the red heading for details.
Ask we’re down to 30 this morning. What little snow that accumulated yesterday was gone in an hour or so. We’ll be back up to the 70’s by Thursday.
Did you finally get a good night of sleep?
This one seemed perfect.

Grey, dull and threatening?
Well it’s not generally thought of as bright, cheery, and inviting. 🙂
Good morning Andi.
That’s a great picture. I’ve already seen two things that pop out at me. The first is that it looks like a giant wave coming in from the sea. The second one is a face.
I’m just too literal-minded — all I see is a mean sky. 🙂
The face is a little hard to see, but the wave came out and almost bit me. 🙂
Yesterday morning when I woke up from my nap, I thought I’d get that picture of snow and the pond. Alas it was already gone.
Darn, I’m bummed. Maybe you can take me a pond picture when there’s a nice blue sky and some green leaves instead.
Now that I can do. Should have something like that in the next 2 or 3 days.
Nice to see you up and about, FM.
Well it’s sort of good to be up and about. Then again, I’ve been up since 11:30 pm last night. The about part, not so much. 🙂
I just finished “Me talk pretty one day.” I liked it.
So do you have any big plans for today?
You should Google some podcasts of David Sedaris and listen to them. You’ll laugh so hard you’ll probably clear up that blocked artery on your own.
My plans are to make an apt at the volvo place and get my car fixed. I’m sure that will be an OUCH moment as it is the transmissionthat is acting up.
The cost of volvo parts used to make me cry.
Yay! I love pond pictures.
We are socked in by what looks like 1.5 inches of snow.
And my space bar is stuck….
I suppose it would be suicidal to go out to Best Buy and get that $9.95 Logitech keyboard.
ha! Plus, Im sure we have a dozen oldkeyboards in the attic somewhere. The mister wasn’t a big advocate of getting rid of old things.
Well the attic sounds safer than going out in that “blizzard”. I confess I always at least one old keyboard around (and I have two dead computers too but eventually I’ll recycle them).
He has 30 year old computers up there that look like dorm fridges.
There’s probably tons of gold up in that attic. Wonder if you can send them off to one of those send-us-your-gold companies. 🙂
Hmmmm….that may be the only way of getting any money out of him.
And get a bunch of space in the attic besides. Win-win.
Good morning SN.
What Andi said. 🙂
About 4 inches here this morning…they called school off last night around 8 pm, thus guaranteeing that the snowstorm would miss us. 🙂 CbtY has some sort of bug, so at least he’s not missing school.
The sky still looks like snow, but I don’t think we’re going to get anything more.
Are you trying to tempt the Evil Eye? That big snow we got in January came in three separate waves with several hours between the first and second.
Apparently I have tempted the evil eye. It’s snowing harder here now than it did all night. Looks like I’m going to get that 6-10 inches I was promised after all…
I hope CbtY gets to feeling better.
I’m starting to doze off in my chair, so I think it’s nap time again.
Everyone have a good day.
hey, where is keres? doesn’t she know we expect daily puppy pics?
Yeah where is she!
She said if I put up Thursday Dog Blogging she would be around late Friday. My jones for puppies is getting out of hand — I might have to go to the Humane Society to get a fix and then I’ll be in real trouble.
don’t do it!!
Yeah, I keep looking at the pets on craigslist and i start talking myself intothinking a second dog wouldn’t be so bad…
I won’t. Fortunately, the county has an incentive program for not giving in to my addiction — four dogs or more and you’re classified as a kennel, which means all sorts of (expensive) requirements.
Two dogs OTOH ….
They have pets on craigslist?
Oh,tons of them. Me thinks you’ve not discovered the joys of craigslist. 🙂
What was I thinking? Yes, I got home Friday, at midnight. And the weekend was pretty full-on playing catch-up for the time I was away. Including dealing with some very wormy puppies (yech!).
I’m just now downloading the pictures from my camera. I’ll be back as soon as I have a chance to up load a few to imageshack – including a special surprise visitor!
Look who we woke-up to.
Nina’s cria. A little girl.
Apparently the bush was bad and had to be punished.
OMG, I am in lurve. Must have Pyrenees pups of own. Now.
They are huge and way too cute.
They are way too cute, and still so young that they haven’t quite figured out how to walk without occasionally landing on their chins.
see, I told you that you’d want a BIG puppy once Luna’s pups were born.
Predictions made at meetups usually come true. Or something like that.
They look so happy to be exploring the world.
It’s nice to look at puppies rather than my time sheets. 🙂
You just reminded me of the one true joy of being underemployed…no time sheets.
Glad to be of service.
It’s an ironic sort of pleasure, to be sure. 🙂
Ditto.
Or more correctly, I don’t keep time sheets because otherwise I’d know how much I’m underpaid for the editing and design work.
First trip and we’ve already discovered the pleasures of chowing down on grass.
That’s actually the leaves on the red-hot pokers – we think Luna must have stashed something in there at some point because there was a lot of fossicking about in the leaves.
On Sunday we all took a field trip to the farm where The Dude will soon be living. There was much romping with goats and eating of cow pies. I didn’t take the camera because we had more dogs than people.
🙁
Wow, there’s no end to the fun at your place, is there? Did you think it would be a little longer before the arrival?
Sorry about the worminess.
No, she was actually a little bit over-due. I was expecting Nina to give birth last week. Which is why we kinda let our guard down – thinking that we may have gotten the date wrong.
Ooh what a cutie; I love the spindly legs. And the puppies have competition!
The Pack says new babies and puppies with worms are a worthwhile excuse for missing their Thursday Dog Blog. So it’s okay by them that you didn’t show.
Ooooooooooooooooh, can I live with you guys?
Sure, we’ll make up the guest bed (or more to the point, move all the laundry off it).
It looks like a windy drizzly day is brewing, so I best get on with my errands.
Two hours late for work but I made it. And it’s still snowing.
Oh no, that’s a setup for the worst possible scenario…getting stranded AT work.
Ugh, a fate worse than death.
Sure hope that comment is being made from home.
How much snow did you end up gettting?
I’m with you. I hope Boran didn’t have to spend the night at his office. Then again, if there was a bar next door, it might not be so bad.
How are you doing this morning?
I’m awake and I’ve had coffee — that’s about all I ask of the morning.
I had another waking up at 11:00 pm last night and haven’t been to bed since. Already started my second pot of coffee, but my head keeps bobbing up and down. I might be dozing off here very soon.
Ugh, YAWNs. I sure hope you’re about to go to sleep. I have a cold that keeps waking me up during the night but I’ve been able to go back to sleep.
Yep I think I’ll be asleep pretty soon. Sorry to hear that you have a cold. Nothing worse than trying to sleep with a cold. Heck just about trying to do anything with a cold is bad.
Jim and I keep passing this cold back and forth — it’s been going on for months. I guess we need a really good fight if we’re going to get rid of it.
A good fight or either separate vacations. 🙂
Fights are a lot cheaper than vacations and way easier to arrange. 😉
