Their only hope is to destroy him. To start they have to trivialize him.
And for them that always starts with the wife.
Who else besides me believes that while in that taxi ride they discussed this very point, and decided on their talking points?
They have no shame at all.
And that is why the NY Times only makes money on their week end editions, because nobody will waste their money on trash.
nalbar
I’ll never forget how she trivialized and mocked Judith Steinberg Dean for her dedication to a simple life of service. No fancy hairdos or expensive Mother’s Day gifts. Concern for her patients. How unAmerican.
So wait, here is a columnist who shares a cab with another columnist and spends valuable column inches talking about what the other columnist said in her column rather than in his column. Why don’t they just give the space to me if MoDo can’t come up with material?
Is this insulting to Mrs. Obama?
I do think the Brits have a point, though, about the gifts. A first family giving away models of their means of transportation is a little tacky.
Good thing we have a liberal media, because I’d hate to think what the NYT would find print worthy if it was conservative.
For me the new low was when they asked the President if he is a socialist. Does anybody actually know what socialism is anymore?
Answer: NO. It is just an epithet.
So, MoDo is jealous of Michelle’s arms? Did she ever devote a cab ride to discussing Laura Bush’s physique (much less write a column about it}?
She should be jealous of Michelle’s grammar skills too…from the column:
“…Michelle’s flare is our depression’s answer to Ginger Rogers gliding around in feathers and lamé.”
Uh, that should be flair as in style and flair, not flare as in shooting off the signal flare, MoHo.
Oh noes.
I know we’re supposed to be looking at bare arms…but that woman’s HAIR in the front row. It’s MAGNIFICENT!
She must have been from New Jersey.
Yeah. Just imagine the disapproval among the chattering classes if the president himself showed up in an outfit which unnecessarily highlighted one of his physical attributes.
I agree that Michelle could kick Rush’s fat ass.
MoDo continues to tackle the topics that matter to most Americans.
Whenever I read her column, I always wonder what this woman does all day. Does she sit around, flipping through People magazine looking for her next column? Does she sip champagne while ordering the servants around? Why is she so cynical? Why would someone share a cab with Brooks? It might do MoDo some good to volunteer at the shelter Michelle did but I bet her arms would wear out after serving up a couple of helpings.
She’s a professional cynic just as Limbaugh is a professional racist and rabble rouser.
pathetic. just pathetic.
you’ll notice, not comments section this time at Maureen’s column.
that’s because she got eviscerated last week, so the times has to protect her.
Meow.
This was inevitable. Any political woman with public appeal gets this treatment from Dowd, most famously (and repetitively) HRC. She’s got serious issues with women in power, or, in this case, proximate to it. And she writes about their perceived flaws — usually physical or wardrobe-related — like clockwork. I can’t believe anyone considers her a “serious” columnist.
and the gall to twist it in the end into a complimentary piece!!
When all else fails, get catty.
No kidding. That’s a crate full of Meow Mix for MoDunce and David BoBo.
Perhaps Obama should have given Gordo a poodle instead.
Dowd is a ‘ hater’. Has been since the Primaries.
Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama is unapologetic about who she is, and that she’s comfortable in her own skin.
That’s why I adore her and think she’s fabulous as First Lady.
As much as anything else, I think Dowd’s presence on the editorial pages of the NYTimes says a lot about how the paper’s leadership prefer to see women. It’s hard to believe that Anna Quindlen once had a regular column at the Times, with similar placement as Dowd’s.
This is just a set-up for MoDo’s usual thesis that Democratic men are weak, flaccid wimps. Just wait…..she’ll soon be writing that the only hard, muscular things in the Obama White House are Michelle’s arms.
For MoDo, this will be a two-fer. She can feminize Obama while making Michelle seem like an Amazon.
It’s what MoDo does best.
She’s pathetic.
