sorry I’ve been MIA.
What’s everyone up to on this fine but chilly Tuesday?
Not much going on here. Just getting ready for more thundershowers today.
How have you been doing?
I hope they’re not too severe. We had the thundershower/tornado warnings here on Sunday, but luckily just got the high winds and thunderstorm.
I’ve been okay, doing some work part-time and continuing to try to find something a little more steady for work. I’ve got to admit, I’m getting tired of feeling like I can’t plan ahead to do anything.
On a more positive note, the weather’s getting better, and CBtY has spring vacation next week. I think We’re going to do some biking on the local trails while he’s off. And I’m looking forward to my class starting the first week of May. And then there’s the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival… 🙂
What have you been up to?
So far in my town we’ve only had high winds, but it’s not uncommon to have the tornado warning siren going off.
My nephews and nieces have already gone through their spring breaks. I’m sure they would be more than happy to switch with CBtY should he decide he would like to go to school without any breaks. :O
I haven’t been up anything lately. I’m almost to the point of getting off my back end and doing something. However, you did notice the word almost 🙂
I bow to your superior slackerliness, FM.
I just looked out my window and noticed my dog napping in the sun, among newly opening daffodils. What a silly girl she is.
Is it chilly out there? I hadn’t noticed while drinking coffee out on the deck in the early morning sunshine.
Glad to see you, Family Man. Did I tell you I’m having the hardest, yuckiest time getting off of Cymbalta? And that I’m going to a headache clinic now? We all have our boring health stories… :0)
Not to poke my nose in here, but your headaches may be due to the Cymbalta withdrawal. I had a friend who had that happen when she got off zoloft.
Better watch out…if you keep bragging on your warm weather, CBtY and I might turn up on your doorstep with our bicycles and sleeping bags next week. 🙂
the cymbalta doesn’t help, but I’ve had them for 30 years and i’ve been tapering off the med for two weeks. now i’m going on progesterone and giving up caffeine among other things. fun fun fun
Wow, sounds like a neurohormonal picnic…not.
Just remember, it’s okay to taper off all these things gradually (cymbalta, caffeiene, etc). Are you doing the thing where they balance the progeterone to levels that work for you? People who have done that swear they’ve never felt better in their lives.
yep, they compounded it and mailed it to me yesterday. I sort of can’t wait to start. I’ve known instinctively all these years that it was hormonal and that everything was connected, but regular docs just don’t do the right tests and rely instead on pain killers and ADs, etc. He is pretty certain it’s thyroid even though i’ve had numerous tests for that over the years. I’m just glad someone is taking me seriously. I’ve had a headache almost every day of my life since I was 18.
I’ll be excited to hear bout how it works for you, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it does the trick. Headaches every day are awful. I’ve had more than I normally would over the past several months (hello, stress), and it’s really debilitating.
he could tell i’ve had migraines because of the thickening of certain tendons and muscles. Like the one in my temple? Who knew others had soft temples? Mine are like rocks.
It sounds like you’ve found someone who knows what he’s doing. I am so glad for you.
Now, about that warm weather…are we talking sunny and 70 or what? 😉
Actually, I think we’re supposed to get into the 60s today, which would be fine with me. I’m ready for the mood lifting powers of warm sunshine and green plants.
Well, I had to turn on the AC this morning while I was stuck in traffic. It’s just about perfect weather though for me….about 72 and mostly sunny with a little breeze, no humidity and no bugs yet.
No I didn’t know about your headaches. I’ve never taken Cymbalta for my migraines. It sounds to me like one of those drugs that you have to weigh the benefits versus the side effects. On some of the earlier medicines they put me on, I know I had a hard time when they took me off them.
I hope things get easier for you soon, and I’m glad you’re going to a headache clinic. Hopefully they’ll be able to figure out what’s causing them soon.
well the cymbalta is for depression, which is connected to the headaches, etc. The goal is to be off all medicine pretty soon and correct the cause that started them 30 years ago. I know you know what I’m talking about. They suck.
I’ll bet the weather is awesome down there and everything is blooming. How about some pond pix??
Yep I’ll agree wholeheartedly – they suck!
The weather here for the last week has been nothing but rain and thunderstorms. However, most of the trees have leafs on them now, and the lawn has been mowed twice now – of course not by me. 🙂
I’ll try and get some pond pictures up this week.
Drive by hi to CG, FM and SN!
Hi boran!
Hiya Boran.
Hi, everyone!
A drive-by here, as well.
Very busy lately, but tonight, I’m off to Norway for a week of (mostly) relaxation.
I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! I hope you have a nice relaxing vacation…with a little blogging access so you can post pictures. 🙂
Thanks – yes, I hope to be on now and then.
Here’s hoping you have a great time back home.
Enjoy.
Thanks, FM.
Good to see you stop by, now and then.
I’ve also been mostly lurking lately.
I miss the dirty puppies, they made me smile. But the current photo does make think spring is here which also makes me smile. It reminds me of a Japanese painting actually.
Hi FM!! It’s always nice when you’re here. 🙂
CB – I can’t believe the MD sheep and wool festival is here again already. I’m looking forward to those sheep photos. 😉
Hi everyone else.
I’m sure we’ll have some dirty puppy pix soon (keres?)
I can’t believe it’s time for Sheep and Wool either…although I am jumping the gun a little bit, since it’s the first weekend in May. Never too early to be trying to convince the people who wear my socks that they should come along and stand in the unbelievably long line for the Socks That Rock yarn, though.
I think I have a case of spring fever today. It’s sunny and it’s warmed up quite nicely.
I had spring fever yesterday – it was a beautiful day. Then it rained (hard) late last night and today it’s cloudly and damp.
I’m excited because I’ve been looking for someone to do some work on my house – replacing some exterior wood items with the composite stuff that never needs painting. I tried three people last year and they either never showed up, showed up but never gave me a bid, or showed up gave me a bid but said they couldn’t get to me until this spring (and wanted a deposit, uh no.) I finally got another name from a friend of mine who had someone do a lot of work at her house and highly recommends him. He was supposed to show up yesterday after I got home from work. I got home. He was there! Early, no less. Isn’t it crazy to get excited because you found someone who actually does what he says he’s going to do. So hopefully this is a good sign.
Boy, there are some eager tradesmen looking for work all over Craigslist.
They always sound eager on the phone. But then they don’t show up. At least they didn’t last year. This year may be a different story.
If you get a guy who someone else has used and is willing to highly recommend, I highly recommend you go with them. Even if someone else might be a few bucks lower in price.
Just a lesson I learned from my general contractor dad and house-remodeler mother. 🙂
Hi Mary,
It’s good to see you too. 😉
So you and CG got spring fever. The way I know it’s spring outside is the number of thunderstorms down here. We’ve got another one coming in today. I think we’ve only had one full day in the last week that was sunny.
I still can’t believe that they are having blizzards out West. That’s what I want. A good blizzard down here.
May a blizzard descend over your town – and nowhere else 🙂
Hey I’m all for it, just as long as we have electricity, phone and cable.
and I missed it. Now I’m bummed that I spent the day half-crashed from some dental work. 🙁
Hi CG, FM, SN, Mary, B2, and Ask.
Is your mouth numb? When you take a drink do you drool? 🙂
The worst is when you think you’re okay, but you’re drooling and your nose is running and no one tells you.
You just need to trains the cat to laugh out loud.
It was numb and I didn’t need to take a drink to drool (I can tell you’re really sorry the dogs don’t know how to take a picture).
It was numb and I didn’t need to take a drink to drool (I can tell you’re really sorry the dogs don’t know how to take a picture).
Sorry to hear about your dental work. I guess I’m following in your footsteps. I’ve got some heavy duty dental work coming up on Thursday.
Hey I know the perfect thing for you to do while you recover — go take pond pictures for me! 😀
Yes Mam, I’ll get right to it. 😛
When I saw the dentist for the initial appointment, he asked me which did I prefer, an IV to relax me or Nitrous to make me not care. I told him I would prefer both with a heavy duty back up just in case. 🙂
It’s so nice to see you taking pictures again. You have a greet eye. The bottom one makes me feel like I should be able to dive right into the center — it’s gorgeous.
And just what did you do to piss off the cat? 😉
The cat was actually glaring at the other cat who was sitting next to me. They hate each other. Smoochy is insane and Isabelle is intimidated by her even though she’s just a tiny, aggressive thing.
So does cat hate every become cat fight or are they good at neutral corners?
Somehow, she’s clean in this photo. I must have taken it right after her bath.
Luna is one big chew toy at the moment. That’s mum’s ear getting the nom-nom treatment.
Other ear, same treatment.
Rewengé
It was really hard to decide which one I liked best but Luna looks likes she’s really enjoying herself so this one won.
What a ball of fluff. Luna is very patient.
We call Lily “little miss bouffant” at the moment.
She and I have just gotten back from a drive down to the P.O. (we’re beyond the mail service area and have to pick our mail up), and lo and behold, there was a package there from Indianadem! 😀
cookies!!!
Hmmmm. How do you get these things open?
Cool! That was pretty quick, a week and a day, IIRC. Enjoy!
Either you or Mrs. ID is a wicked package wrapper much after my own obsessive heart. 😉
And not to worry, they arrived narry a crack – even after I let the Godzilla put loose on them.
I’ve only had one – so far.
that should read “Godzilla pup“
I must confess, it was me. I can’t remember exactly where we got the foamy stuff, maybe my mom’s apartment when we moved her, but I seldom throw anything away. I might just have a use for it sometime. The habit drives Mrs. ID crazy, as she would give away everything we had, given the chance, she’s such a generous soul.
And you’re welcome:-)!!
Oh, and thank you!
Here are some photos from the next day. When she stopped being clean – again.
But … her face is still clean … 🙂
The top one may just be my favorite of Lilly. The expression on her face is just wonderful — perplexed, a little worried, and yet somehow very satisfied. Plus it makes me so happy that none of my dogs are white. 🙂
It was several days of damp that caused her to get so mucky. When she drys out the dirt falls off. Up until the sun came back late yesterday we had had about four days of drizzle and dew. Because she’s so low to the ground she was continually getting wet just from romping through the grasses.
We’ve got a few sunny days before the drizzle is supposed to return. I’ll try to enjoy it while it lasts.
Good morning all! Off to the (data) mines…
Have a good one!
Do you have a pickaxe, and sing hi-ho, hi-ho when you head off in the morning? 🙂
Yep and I’m short, too, but not as short as that creep Mitch Daniels! (I’m not, really, just medium, but thought it flowed better that way.)

Recovered from the dental work this morning?
we have wisdom teeth coming up for CBtE. Big fun.
Bebo is becoming quite the sage. Must be that older, wiser crowd she’s running with;-)
Nah — that was just her April Fools joke.
It looks like we need a new cafe.
Good morning, FM! I’m up with another headache. Can’t wait to complete all of this testing and start on fixing them.
How’s you?
I’ll be glad when they do figure out what is going on with you. You know I can sympathize with you on headaches.
I’m doing OK except for the dental surgery I have today.
Good luck with that. It’s amazing how comfortable they can make you these days, but play up the misery for your brother’s benefit.
This will be the first time I’ve ever had Nitrous for a dental procedure. If it works really good, I’ll ask the dentist can he bottle up a six pack for me to carry home. :O
Well hate to run, but I’ve got to start getting ready. Hope your headache gets better.
Everyone have a good day.
It’s nice to have company in the cafe in the morning, though I’m really sorry that people are showing up because they have bad headaches and dentist appointments.
Hope you get over yours very soon.
I hope they get those fixed soon.
Good morning everyone!
I’m getting ready for my long drive to go and have dental surgery done today. I’ll be spending the night at my youngest brother’s house, and I thought today would be a bad day until I finally figured out that my brother would be waiting on me hand and foot. After such a traumatic experience in the dental chair and a few guilt trips thrown his way, I’m sure he would go up to Maine for lobster if I wanted it. 🙂
Well there’s no enjoying the dentist but have a good time being pampered.
Good luck with everything today, FM. That nitrous works pretty well from what I hear.
And I think you deserve some lobster…fresh from Maine, of course. 🙂
