Laura Rozen, in a 3/31/09 entry at The Cable, states:
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to send eight nominations to the full Senate for confirmation votes, the committee said in a press release today.
The committee favorably voted on the nominations of Esther Brimmer to be Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs; Gen. Karl Eikenberry to be Ambassador to Afghanistan; Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to be U.S. Governor of the IMF, IBRD, IADB, African Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Fund, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; Philip Gordon to be Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs; Rose Gottemoeller to be Assistant Secretary of State for Verification and Compliance; Christopher Hill to be Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq; Richard Verma to be Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs; and Melanne Verveer to be Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues.
“Everyone went through,” a Senate Democratic foreign policy staffer said. “The real drama is whether Chris Hill will get a floor vote – there may be a deal brewing, I hear.”
Excuse my ignorance, but can Tim do Treasury plus US Gov. to these bodies? Rozen’s post wasn’t done on April 1st.
