Does anyone remember Khalid El-Masri? Oh, right!! That would entail looking back.

uh oh. someone’s sounding like me.
hopey changefulness!
The newest Republican talking point…
Pat Buchanan says it’s okay to torture people because it’s not like nuking Japan and incinerating a quarter million people.
I admire the President very much. But his commentary on this is pitiful and ridiculous. He made the right decision to release the memos. Now he has to stick with it and follow it all the way to the end.
yes
(wow! was that really three years ago?)
Wanker of the Day: Mark M. Lowenthal.
it’s too bad they don’t do their wanking in private where none of us have to deal with the…aftermath.
Pat Buchanan is on a roll.
Boston said/sang it:
“Don’t Look Back”
Don’t look back
A new day is breakin’
It’s been too long since I felt this way
I don’t mind where I get taken
The road is callin’
Today is the day
And I can see
It took so long just to realize
I’m much too strong
Not to compromise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I’ll turn it around, oh yes I will
I finally see the dawn arrivin’
I see beyond the road I’m drivin’
It’s a bright horizon but I’m awakin’
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
The sun is shinin’
The clouds are breakin’
‘Cause I can’t lose now, there’s no game to play
I can tell
There’s no more time left to criticize
I’ve seen what I could not recognize
Everything in my life was leading me on
But I can be strong, oh yes i can
I finally see the dawn arrivin’
I see beyond the road I’m drivin’
Far away and left behind, left behind
(guitar bridge)
Oh the sun is shinin’ and I’m on that road
(guitar solo)
Don’t look back
A new day is breakin’
It’s been too long since I felt this way
I don’t mind where I get taken
The road is callin’
Today is the day
I can see
It took so long just to realize
I’m much too strong
Not to compromise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
I’ll turn it around, oh yes I will
I finally see the dawn arriving
I see beyond the road I’m driving
Far away and left behind
Don’t look back
Don’t look back
Don’t look back
Don’t look back…
Serious answer. I remember Mr. El Masri. I don’t like being told to forget Mr. El Masri. I think it is insulting to citizens who want justice to tell the world we want vengeance and tell us to go away. I wanted to love Obama the way Americans loved FDR, the way they loved Lincoln. But I feel the air going out of my personal Obama balloon. And I’m getting that same greasy, soiled feeling I had during the Bush years.
Addendum: It is tautologous and silly to protest that torture occurred in the past. When the hell else would it have occurred? We won’t forget. How can we pretend that we have?
