Companies always reduce their debt in bankruptcy. It’s either that or leave the debt holders with less (usually) after liquidation. Why can’t homeowners do the same?
Effing centrists.
The Obama people have no doubt thought about this already, but if I was in their shoes I’d be pushing whatever legislation they can get approved by Congress now, and waiting for the new Congress after the 2010 midterm elections to really get ambitious. Hopefully we’ll have a more progressive Senate and an even bigger majority, and then we can just shove it right up the ass of the Republicans and the conservative Democrats.
Heard that one before.
