Happy Monday…
Good morning CG! Did you get those bad storms last night?
No, we actually have had a 24-hour period without rain. Who would believe it?
We did have horrendous storms Saturday night. Like buckets of water pouring down from the sky.
It’s a little overcast here today, and I think its supposed to rain again today before it clears up for awhile.
Rain here. Again. Rain tomorrow. Then in the low 90’s on Wednesday. THAT will be steamy. ugh.
It’s been hot down here, but mostly dry. I”m looking forward to my trip to Cleveland for some cool weather.
Ugh. I know this is supposed to be summer, but it doesn’t really feel like it.
Well that’s one good ting about being trapped in a BCRoD — the weather becomes pretty irrelevant.
Good morning all. More rain coming. Ugh.
Lots of rain here. Woke up to find the “fix” of the flashing around my chimney didn’t work and I’m once again getting water in. sigh.
Sorry to hear that. Is there any guarantee on the work?
They weren’t sure it was going to work when they did it (long story) so now we know it didn’t.
That means on to the next solution which is more $$$. Truthfully, I wanted them to just do the big fix at the time and be done with it but they insisted we should try something else first.
And since I haven’t been home to get a picture of those humpy-bumps, I’ll have to go with the classic Smokies version.

Hope nobody else is having their YAHD in a BCRoD … which, in my case, is starting at, ugh, 7 a.m.
And I’ve got prep to do, so it’s hi and bye for me.
Oooh! Not yet within range of my overlords, so I can enjoy this one. Have a good day, Andi!
Oh, gorgeous. Worthy of a new cafe later this morning, IMO.
Smoked humps will do just fine, thank-you-very-much. Very nice! Hope the BCRoD was at least somewhat tolerable, if annoying.
Thanks b2, cg, and id. Now if only I was there instead of listening to it storming in Pittsburgh.
It’s been raining here in the east almost every day for more than a week. We are literally inundated with water here. I can’t mow part of my yard.
Hopefully you’ll get to see some sunshine through the bcrod windows soon.
Last night was the first time it’s rained while I’ve been Pittsburgh. And I don’t have to worry that much about it because — yay — I’m going home tonight. The bad news is that it’s going to be in the 90s and upper 80s at home.
Oh my my my my. What a lovely photograph! Wow.
Everything I love about the mountains seems to be right there ..
Thanks, Andi.
To take a good picture in the the Smokies all you need is to be there with a camera. 🙂
Hope your mountains are treating you well.
Good morning, Andi!
Bleh! It just keeps pouring.
Good morning ask. And more rain is coming tomorrow.
NOAA says we cane expect rain thru Monday. Personally, I expect regional flooding.
Each of the 100-year Catskills floods we’ve experienced this decade (heh) have occurred in June.
I’d say the weather service acronym is pretty appropriate right now.
If nothing else, our little garden seems to be doing rather well because of all the wet. I’ll be picking beans this Sun. if the deer don’t get there first.
Olivia will put a the diary later this morning but in the mean time you can be thinking about the theme.
The theme is School’s Out for Summer: Photos that make you think of free times, hot times, lazy times, fun times or even Alice Cooper.
And everybody is off trashing their school books?
Good morning!
I guess they are.
Quiet morning here, young asklet still asleep – swimmer left for Italy yesterday, being au-pair till the end of July.
Good morning ask! What a great opportunity for swimmer!A friend of ours had a teaching position with NATO in Naples some years ago and really enjoyed her time there. It was also a handy home base for Mrs. ID when she visited.
Good morning, ID!
Well, she was quite exited to go. Staying in a small town close to Venice.
Sound like a great spot to visit. I’m sure she will enjoy it.
Sounds like a great way to spend half the summer. I’m a little envious…I bet it isn’t raining there in Italy…unlike here.
Sounds like an exciting summer for swimmer, Italy and Norway. It things like that which make me long a bit to be a young again. Then I remember what it was like to be 18 and it passes. 🙂
Good morning!
Don’t forget Sweden in August, long distance relationship is apparently still ongoing.
Ugh! The rain simply doesn’t let up. Looks like it will pour all day…
Oh my, Italy, Norway, Sweden, and then college. This will be a memorable summer.
Sorry about all the rain. It’s been very hot and humid here but only a few thunderstorms.
Ooooh! Its hot and muggy out already. Indoor activities planned for today. At least its not raining yet. Guess I have time for a recycle center trip before the thunderstorms crank up.
Unless those storms were highly localized, it looks like you had all day to get your recycling done. 🙂
That was a (partly) wasted journey. Since it was Saturday, Mrs. ID and I dallied over brunch and the Will Shortz crossword. By the time I got to the recycle center it was 8 minutes after noon and they had gone for the day:(
I had some other errands, so at lest the entire trip wasn’t in vain. What was particularly galling was the need to unpack all the recycle stuff from the car so that I could retrieve the drop cloth underneath to finish my ceiling painting project. I must admit I had a fleeting thought about the dumpster up the street at that point, but my old green hippie conscience woke up to voice its disapproval of that idea.
I keep sleeping in for some reason…
Because you can?
Morning everyone. Got to meet Toni and Andrew yesterday. Then my family had a surprise birthday party for me 6 months early. Did I tell you how much I hate to be the center of attention? It was a little awkward, but my kids surprised me by driving up from Raleigh, so it was nice. And they hadn’t seen my mother in several years.
You got to meet Andrew.
Andi will be so jealous when she reads that.
He is adorable and sweet and he smells good. And he rode a camel.
Sounds like a wonderful day! And I love the 6-month early surprise birthday-so sweet.
Did you ride a camel too? 🙂
No, I figured PETA would show up and protest that event.
You lucky person! Andrew and Toni too!
Now that we have grandchildren, I’m beginning to appreciate little ones in an entirely different way. We’ve had them visiting overnight more frequently of late, since d-i-l started working more hours at their school. I’m beginning to wonder if she’s feeling the onset of Kid Saturation Syndrome. Anyway, its nice that we are close by and can give them a break. The bonus for us is a couple of cuties to liven up the “old folks home” for a little while.
I know what you mean. Children have a way of making you look at the world in a whole different way. I think I’d be a way better parent at this stage of my life than when I was younger.
Yeah, me too, except my energy for kid stuff disappears after a day or two. No way I could do child care full time at this point. We have friends who adopted their granddaughter a couple of years back and the kid (now 6 yo) is just constant a ball of fire. Good thing they’re several years younger and much more energetic the we are!
A short dialog from our friend and his granddaughter:
I: “Papa, can God do anything?”
G’pa: “Um… I guess so.”
I: “Well Papa, can God do a handstand?”
G’pa: “Um… I guess so. Yes, I’m sure God can do a handstand.”
Just curious…in what ways do you think you’d be a better parent? More relaxed and less worried about stuff? Or something else?
I don’t think that I had any understanding of how important my job was at that time, and how fragile life is; and how fleeting their childhoods would be. I think I’d understand that better now with a little bit of living behind me.
Well I am very jealous. But if you took some pictures and postt them, maybe I will feel better about it.
/ Did I tell you how much I hate to be the center of attention?/ lol!
I hate surprise parties too because everyone is LOOKING for some response. After the surprise response.
Hope you had a GREAT time with Toni and Andrew.
Good afternoon and a happy father’s day to all.
Happy dad’s day to you!
Thank you!
Back from celebrating Dad’s Day at my sister’s. Very low key. It’s too hot for anything else. I’ve decided to stop looking at the heat index.
It’s the morning after the longest night of the year down here. At 8am the sun has yet to clear the horizon and before 7am it was still blue-black.
Sun-lover that I am, I’m definitely looking forward to longer days.
We’ve got plenty of sun right now so we’ll send some down to you, but you have to promise to send it back if we need it.
No problemo. I’ll hook up the singularity parabola. I’ve been tinkering on it for about a week now. If all goes as planned it should suck sunshine from your hemisphere to mine. Or, it could suck us all into oblivion. I mean it’s not like anyone will be around to give me hell if everything turns a collapsed pear-shape.
Right now I’m watching the fog roll through the valleys below us (it’s good to have a view).
We’re experiencing a bit of interference with the tracking device. Huston, please stand by while we attempt a kibble maneuver.
The ground crew appear a to be bit skeptical of the project ever getting airborne.
Too funny!
At least the lack of light hasn’t taken away your sense of humor or Luna’s patience. The ground crew looks ready to fly into action.
The ground crew was launching themselves off a board yesterday. Unfortunately, young Cacciatore got into the yard with Luna and suffered a broken wing as a result – so he was having a harder time then the rest.
We ended up with two young hens (as yet unnamed) and three young cockerals (Cacciatore, Kung Pao, and Marengo). We lost the sixth chick early on when it got out of the enclosure and died of exposure.
LOL!
Oh you are so mean … and so funny.
(Love the ground crew too.)
Luna is the most patient and long suffering dog on the planet. And there’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t remind me of that fact.
Well I certainly hope you reward her with the appropriate largess.
Oh look, it’s already been done so you don’t have to.

That is going in the long-awaited new cafe.
