The House of Representatives is debating the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES) this afternoon. Watch it on CSPAN. You can entertain yourself by keeping score. If a Republican makes a factually accurate statement, give them a point. I’m betting that, based on what I’m seeing right now, the GOP will finish this debate with zero points. It is still a daily surprise to me that a creature exists (Republicans) that has no inner filter that tells them not to lie. Hopefully, the bill will pass later today. But it won’t get a single Republican vote. Does anyone know if this bill has any chance in the Senate?
Update [2009-6-26 19:17:36 by BooMan]: ACES passed 219-212.
Actually, Politico was saying there might be “5-10 Republicans” who would vote for the measure.
Maybe.
Kind of.
I kind of doubt it, but anything is possible.
.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Eh. It will fall in the Senate and nothing’s gonna change. Of course, that some members of Congress still think the looming catastrophe is a hoax just shows how screwed up the situation is.
I wish there were less compromising, but that’s the way of Washington. Too bad we’ll have to pay the price for their dawdling.
Boehner is conducting a filibuster. I didn’t know you could do that in the House.
It’s fucking ridiculous.
I think Boner is close to shutting up. He had four minutes and he’s taken over an hour.
I know I’m late but wtf. ACES passed. However, 44 “Dems” voted NO! Now these pieces of shit should be targeted for removal. Pain and simple. To hell with each and every one of them.
Even Kucinich the Pure?
Yup. I know that it is hard to accept flawed positions but there has to be a moment in time when one must at least support a start in the correct direction. The bill is flawed. We all know that. However, what is the alternative. ” Let our free market system work!” Puleeze!
