Was how all the guys in the theatre “awwwed” over Jamie Lee’s boobies.
yes, I remember that as well.
Al Franken played Baggage Handler #1 in Trading Places.
It’s actually a rather meaty set piece with an important subplot, and Franken plays the stupid baggage handler with comic grace.
But then again, I’m a student of comedy, the Department of Odd Information, and I made Al Franken laugh, once.
At the BEA, big publishing conference, a friend insisted we bother Franken at a Starbucks so she could tell him how she looooooooooved Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot.
I reluctantly came along for the ride, and when Franken said, “To be fair, Rush has lost a lot of weight.”
I interjected, “So now he’s just an idiot.”
Franken laughed!
I made Al Franken laugh! Of course, he may have heard this retort before and that was a polite laugh.
But still…I made a sitting Senator laugh!
Congratulations!

I hang my head in shame.
I just turned down a chance to be a part of a Discovery Channel documentary. Certain JFK programs end up being really awful, and I just couldn’t, in good conscience, participate in one I felt destined to end that way.
It sucks having a conscience at times, but ah well. I wouldn’t trade it away. (And I don’t follow it often enough as it is!)
I wonder what Tom Davis is up to these days.
Lisa, good for you!
Thanks. I hate turning things down like that, but I have my principles.
And re Tom Davis – I have this awful feeling he died. I hope I’m not spreading a false rumor. I thought I had heard that, somewhere…
Still alive.
Well . . . that should definitely prepare him to do some heavy lifting in the Senate. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.)
that should definitely prepare him to do some heavy lifting in the Senate…
but i think you are opposing it to some extent.
