I have an appointment with the veterinarian this afternoon. I notice that the Iraqi shoe thrower is getting released tomorrow. I guess he must have done the better half of a year in prison for that move.

Did anyone know that there was a festival on the West Coast this weekend that countered the teabagger rally and may have surpassed the teabaggers in number?
This Saturday, on 9/12, during my weekly Saturday long run, I happened upon the Power to the Peaceful festival in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. There had to be tens of thousands of people there, or, 3 million using wingnut numerology (I can show my work). But way more than the teabaggers had in D.C., for sure:

(look at 2:15 in the video for a somewhat decent look at the crowd–I ran all the way around Speedway Meadows and could produce charts if needed–it was much bigger than this video show and surely beats the teabagger crowd)
If you doubt my numbers I’m sure I can explain it to you . . . just give me Glenn Beck’s chalkboard and it will all make sense . . . .
And since I’m operating under wingnut rules I will also use the following clip from the 2008 Power to the Peaceful festival to buttress my argument:

I tried to get fancy and imbed those links but failed miserably. Here are the two links:

interesting, and you don’t really have to use the wingnut nomenclature to realize it.
an aside: here’s a html trick for future ref:
be sure you’re composing in “AUTO FORMAT”
use this code: [whateverhttp……………………]
ie: [ HEREhttp://www.boomantribune.com/comments/2009/9/14/142028/061#4 ]
becomes HERE when the brackets are closed.
good luck…and remember, preview is your friend.
re the wingnut nomenclature . . . yes, the festival was interesting in its own right and it was cool running a 2 mile loop around it and seeing a very diverse group of happy and peaceful people. It’s always interesting to run in the park.
But it’s only natural for me to compare the Power to the Peaceful event to the teabaggers and then to become angry when I see the disparate treatment these two groups receive from policians and our media.
After my run and seeing people like this guy giving free hugs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X1HLtjy7CA
and then coming home and seeing the teabaggers attempt to explain their various, diverse, and frankly, insane grievances in a hostile and spitefull manner:

It makes me think we are deeply screwed as a country. The government is solicitous of these teabagger viewpoints in all their diverse and irrational glory, while the hippies in Golden Gate Park are totally ignored (I guess their peace message is too esoteric and unrealistic to even engage them in the debate).
Sad.
It’s a damn shame when respectable bloggers like yourself have to resort to seeing a veterinarian to get medical care.
LOL!
My only complain about the shoe thrower is that he missed…TWICE.
