How long do you think it will be before we think off Sarah Palin as infrequently as we think of Dan Quayle or, say, Admiral Stockdale?

Tragically, never.
Why do you hate Admiral Stockdale?
A regrettable incident involving me, the Admiral and a Jazzy scooter.
I want to think about Sarah Palin much less frequently than I think about Admiral Stockdale. But it’s probably some kind of inverse square formula – using some calculations I won’t reproduce here I get 10 years.
It shows my youth I think, that when you say “Admiral Stockdale” I think of Dean Stockwell whose character was an admiral on Quantum Leap.
…as well as the number one Cylon villain on Battlestar Galactica!
Without ever having accomplished anything of note, other than being politically attractive enough to earn the VP nomination from a risk prone candidate, she will remain in the limelight for the remainder of the GOP life as it is today. I predict that it takes another 2-3 presidential election cycles for Republicans to shake out of this current intransigence, or else they risk being completely sidelined in national debates (or at least getting the same attention as minority parties in Europe and elsewhere). In either case, she loses her relevance at around the 12 year mark. Meanwhile, I’m sure she has plenty more books to write, especially with a turn-around time of only 4 months!
Although this is an interesting topic for discussion, what I really want to know is…how about those New York Football Giants?
Booman, you are mighty silent on the most important issue of the day.
revenge comes tonight.
I like hearing about (and from) her. More she talks, the better it is.
And I still think she will be the nominee. Stupid fivethirtyeight punched holes in the idea,

but I still believe it.
I’m an optimist.
nalbar
We?
I’ll never think of her again.
Alas! You and SN have got me obsessing over Admiral Stockdale.
Hold on Alice…must…resist.
No more zombies please, don’t mention those people again – it just revives them.
Isn’t Halloween over?
How long have we been hearing from Pat Buchanan?
That’s a sobering thought, but I don’t think it’s a good comparison. While Pat Buchanan may be evil, he’s well-educated, reasonably intelligent, and articulate. In short, he can form complete, coherent, and often complex sentences and does so with great enthusiasm and probably will until his old white supremacist heart gives out and they bury him.
All Sarah Palin has going for her is that she’s a reasonably well-preserved 45 and has a cult following among the same demographic that keeps posters in their living rooms of WWF wrestlers’ girlfriends, and for much the same reason. Unless she actually crosses over and becomes a professional wrestler’s girlfriend, I suspect that the last we’ll hear of her is during the next presidential primary season as the GOP self-destructs by splitting the right wing vote between the merely wrongheaded and completely insane factions of the base.
(As usual, the “independent” vote will continue its proud tradition of splitting more or less evenly and randomly between candidates of all parties based on vague and incoherent reasons that will make the rest of us, once again, question the wisdom of universal suffrage.)
I don’t know, but I really wouldn’t think of her at all if people didn’t keep bringing her up.
This is part of an interesting phenomenon, based on the fact that in this country we MUST have two parties: The less representative the GOP becomes, the more disproportionate is the attention it receives.
Satah Palin MUST be important, because she is the most popular figure in the GOP. And yet, what does it say for the GOP that Sarah Palin is the most popular figure in it?
I see her banner ads with some frequency.
It won’t be for a while with me. Her pictures are still on my iPhone.
😀
“Thinking off”?? Is that what they call what Rich Lowry was doing while he was watching her on the TV now?
Little Starbursts…
Sarah who?
With a media presence (e.g. A show on Fox “News”), could be 12 years. Without, I’d say 5 years.
when the media can get over her.
Honestly, I think even the far rightwing could get past Palin if the media would get over their crush.
They cannot seem to find enough reasons to drip over her and the minute she posts a word, like say, morning, on facebook, the media breathlessly reports it.
So, I do think the rightwing would move on and look around at other candidate and forget Palin fairly quick, the rest of us who are normal would be pleased at not having to look at or heard about this woman ever again, but, it first is going to take serious intervention to get the media to stop.
