I’m meeting up at the cafe with friends early this afternoon to hang out and knit together, then go see someone’s new house. We have a nice dinner of some sort planned, and that’s probably about it. Maybe making homemade mozzarella with CBtY. Unless I can convince this baby to come on out and meet everyone…
Re the folk remedies: castor oil is out, IMO. Maybe a long walk in the snow and some raspberry leaf tea and some… 🙂
So, I finally made my spinach and egg breakfast strata last night (it’s going in the oven now). It was supposed to be Christmas day breakfast, but I was too lazy to make it then.
I’m back from my appointment in the city and it was a terrible drive there and back. The fog was really dense and still people were driving like it was Le Mans. Well I guess down here they would be driving more like NASCAR. I’ve got to go out one more time today (just downtown) and then I’m staying put at the house.
CG that breakfast sounds great. Remember I do take care packages. 🙂
It was kinda scary with all those idiots driving so crazy. The fog was so dense at one point that I put on my emergency blinkers and slowed down. I had people passing me that had to be driving around 80 or 85 mph. I really don’t care if people drive like they’re racing, but it’s the people who are driving the speed limit or below that I get worried about. They shouldn’t be put in a dangerous situation because other people are idiots. OK that’s my rant for this morning. Actually thinking back, I never rant about anything, so that’s my rant for the entire year. 🙂
Well as soon as PCH comes through, I’ll be camped out on your doorstep.
OK so you want the baby to go ahead and get here. My suggestion is to grab a hoe, go out to the garden and start chopping. In between chopping do a quick squat, the baby pops out and you can go back to chopping.
OK helmet is on for anyone wanting to give me a slap upside the head. 🙂
I’m sure that if what FDad told me about walking 10 miles to school in the snow and going up hill all the way, then I’m sure FMom had to have one of us while out in the field chopping. 😉
You still haven’t said which movie you’re renting. I’m thinking of renting one for tonight. I still haven’t seen the newest Star Trek yet, so that might be what I’m watching tonight.
I don’t know yet. We don’t have accounts anymore at the video stores, so I have to use one of those Redbox things at the grocery store and they never have anything good. I seldom go to movies, so almost everything will be new to me.
Something comedic, definitely. I certainly don’t need anything heavy or sad.
I’m the same where as I never go to the theater. Actually I hardly ever rent movies. The only reason I have this account is because when my nephews and nieces were here one holiday they wanted to see a Disney movie that just came out on DVD.
If not Star Trek, I would probably be looking for a comedy too. I watched The Green Mile for the first time last night and it was a great movie, but enough heavy and sad to last me for a good while.
The biggest thing I’ll be doing today is scanning in a big load of pictures my niece wants me to put on disc for her.
I just got picked to run an errand downtown. Back in a little bit.
It snowed last night, but now it’s sunny out. The temp’s supposed to drop.
I’m going shopping in a little bit. I hope I’ll find a pair of winter shoes that are both cute and cheaper than the cute winter shoes I saw at Payless the other day. I was going to buy a Snuggie but the girl who works with me in physical therapy suggested I wait until they come out with the New and Improved.
Welcome to the Cafe. Don’t know exactly where you are, but I’m in Alabama and we’ve not seen any snow. After today our temps are supposed to drop to the 40’s during the day and 20’s at night.
Shoes are always a big thing in our family. I have two nephews and one wears a size 17 and the other a size 18. So in their case it’s no running out to the shoe store and picking up a pair. For my brothers and me, we wear normal size shoes – 13. 🙂
Hope you have a great New Year’s Eve and again welcome to the cafe. Hope to see more of you.
Read your rant about the drivers. It’s funny, so much of my anger has dissipated with the practice of meditation. But NOT about people’s driving.
We rented Star Trek for tonight, and are getting take-out from the best (ie, most expensive) place in town, rather than the usual ones. Life in the fast lane 🙂
Your New Year’s Eve sounds a lot like mine tonight. After going and picking up Chinese take out tonight, I don’t plan on being on the road again until next year. I was talking with someone this morning about partying on NYE. It took me a little while, but I finally figured out that the last time I went out to party on NYE was in 1996. I have truly hit the “old fart”/”geezer” pinnacle it seems. 🙂
I’ve never been one to go on rants, but every now and then when someone acts like a complete idiot on the highway, then I get a little angry.
Last night we had a fantastic thunderstorm. We moved the couch so that we could sit in front of the sliding glass door and watch while drinking champagne. The storm petered out around 11pm, and I petered out slightly afterward at 11:30pm – keeping my “losing” streak alive.
It’s a lovely cool day today, after yesterday’s record high.
That’s a magnificent picture Keres. Once enlarged down at the bottom it looks like giant waves crashing over rocks. Plus I agree with what ID said. Just a great picture.
Hi FM,
Happy New Year to you & yours.
I saw myself peering into the future year from the storm of the past ones. Worm holes or some such thing, though I do expect the “cookies” might have a hand in the figmentation of my imaginate.
Mrs. ID was struck suddenly by a stomach bug earlier today and must remain close by the bathroom, so our New Year’s Eve hasn’t been very eventful. I guess she can blame me for passing it on, since I had it last weekend.
My condolences to Mrs.ID. At least she’s not at our house, where we’re currently hanging drywall in bathroom. As well as having just removed the door so it can be painted.
I hope I’m the only one who woke up at a ridiculously early hour after going to sleep late.
I’m glad you’re doing well on the project — that’s a good way to be able to look winningly at someone as you point out how much better your projects would go with some great new tools (psst — I’m sure if I keep saying this, Imogen will pick up the new tool vibe).
Done. Now I just need something to distract me…what could it be?
Did you have fun last night? One of my friends came over and had dinner with us last night, and I almost made it to midnight (fell asleep at 11:35, but someone woke me up for the midnight kiss, so I guess I technically ushered in the new year).
Woke up to find I missed everyone this morning…and it’s snowing here. We’re already back to a bit of the winter wonderland.
We have fog and gloom.
Any big plans for the day? I say google modern folklore about bringing on labor…

What are you doing this evening?
I was thinking sex, but raspberry tea might do it.
I don’t know what I’m doing tonight. Probably rent a movie and watch by myself.
I was thinking sex too, but thought I’d throw everything else in there too, just to be sure. 😉
Might as well end this thing the way it began.
So the midwife says…
So, I finally made my spinach and egg breakfast strata last night (it’s going in the oven now). It was supposed to be Christmas day breakfast, but I was too lazy to make it then.
That sounds delicious. I’m starving after 2 cups of coffee.
Recipe here.
I thought this and this looked good too.
I’m obviously starving too. Another 40 minutes till breakfast is ready…
Good morning CG and SN,
I’m back from my appointment in the city and it was a terrible drive there and back. The fog was really dense and still people were driving like it was Le Mans. Well I guess down here they would be driving more like NASCAR. I’ve got to go out one more time today (just downtown) and then I’m staying put at the house.

I hate driving in fog. People are such assholes and I hate those idiots that have like 3 sets of halogen headlights….gaa!
It was kinda scary with all those idiots driving so crazy. The fog was so dense at one point that I put on my emergency blinkers and slowed down. Actually thinking back, I never rant about anything, so that’s my rant for the entire year. 🙂
So what movie are you renting for tonight?
Glad you made it back safe. It amazes me how people are so reckless in bad weather.
Care package? If you came up here, you could have some, complete with about an inch of snow on the ground.
Oh, that’s one of your better ones, FM.
I’m sure that if what FDad told me about walking 10 miles to school in the snow and going up hill all the way, then I’m sure FMom had to have one of us while out in the field chopping. 😉

That would be an excellent choice, IMO. Funny, with adventure thrown in.
Gawd, that looks good! I have everything but the cheese…
Sounds like you could fix that with a quick run to the store…
I want the popcorn next.
We just ate it. You should definitely go to the store. It’s worth the trip. 🙂
will do. 🙂
Happy New Years’ Eve to you, too!
It snowed last night, but now it’s sunny out. The temp’s supposed to drop.

Welcome to the cafe!
I think the post-holiday sales have been pretty good this year – I bet you’ll find something cute and cheap in the shoe department.
How can you possibly improve a Snuggie? Cupholders? A mini-fridge?
Hello Louisiana!

Hi!
Are you even newer than me? I landed here about a week ago, after burning out from the anger on other blogs.
The people here are lovely – welcome!
Hi Louisiana! Welcome!
to meet friends for a bit – see you all later this afternoon/evening/morning!
Enjoy yourself and be careful on the highway.
Happy New Year to everyone!
And thank you for opening up the cafe/lounge so graciously to a newcomer. DKos may have the traffic, but BT has the class.
G
Good morning GC,
Hope you’re having a great New Year’s Eve.
Good Morning
Read your rant about the drivers. It’s funny, so much of my anger has dissipated with the practice of meditation. But NOT about people’s driving.

Morning all from New Year.
Last night we had a fantastic thunderstorm. We moved the couch so that we could sit in front of the sliding glass door and watch while drinking champagne. The storm petered out around 11pm, and I petered out slightly afterward at 11:30pm – keeping my “losing” streak alive.

Good morning Keres,
So mother nature gave you a fireworks show without having to leave the couch. Now that’s what I call a slackerly present form mother nature. 😉
Glad to hear you’re getting some relief from the heat. It’s warm here today, but after today we plunge back down to the cold.
Yep, quite a show. The moon also put on a show, until it disappeared behind the clouds.
Warning! Large image (smaller just didn’t do it justice)
About ten minutes after moonrise.
The clouds look as if they were painted by one of the old Dutch Masters. I can almost see Jehova reclining on one surrounded by cherubs.
That’s a magnificent picture Keres. Once enlarged down at the bottom it looks like giant waves crashing over rocks. Plus I agree with what ID said. Just a great picture.
Keres,
Beautiful shot.
The portal at the edge of the storm.
Hiya Head!
The portal at the edge of the storm.
You always come up with the best captions for pictures.
Hope you’re having a Happy New Year’s Eve.
I’m off to bed, before the new year. Old fogey.
Happy New Year, everyone. Good night John-Boy
I’m not to far after you on the going to sleep.
Happy Yew Year and good night Mary Ellen. ;P
Wouldn’t ya know it! Just when I decided to go to sleep, they start blasting fireworks and George is barking. Aaarrrggggg!
We were spared fireworks by the high fire danger yesterday. Luna doesn’t like fireworks, but is OK if she can come inside. Lily has never heard them.
Hi FM,
Happy New Year to you & yours.
I saw myself peering into the future year from the storm of the past ones. Worm holes or some such thing, though I do expect the “cookies” might have a hand in the figmentation of my imaginate.
The occasional panting is Lily. It started raining after awhile, so we watched from inside after that.
Happy New Year everyone!
Another year, another election cycle to prep for.
Some things need peace and privacy.
Happy New Year, keres. May it bring you many great tools. 🙂
And good night.
From your lips to Imogen’s ears.
Happy New Year, ID.
Hope Mrs. ID feels better soon.
This little corner of Brown County is ready for the first night’s sleep of 2010.
THE END (2009)
Happy New Year
& to all, good health & happiness.
Friday Foto Flogging is back from its one-week vacation. Olivia will be along at a sane hour to post it.
The theme is Gates, Doors, and Passages so open up and come through.
Morning Andi and anyone else rising early after a late night.
Our first day of 2010 was spent working on the house. Small (but satisfying) progress was made on big projects, with more of the same tomorrow.
I’ll no doubt be asleep by that ‘sane hour’, so I’ll catch you all on the flip side.
You’e not the only one… Happy New Year!
I am so going to need a nap today. And I think we need a new cafe, don’t you?
Happy New Year to You and all the Cabin Boys (and Cabin Boys to be)
Probably a good idea on the new cafe — after all, you might get really distracted any time now. 😉
Done. Now I just need something to distract me…what could it be?
Did you have fun last night? One of my friends came over and had dinner with us last night, and I almost made it to midnight (fell asleep at 11:35, but someone woke me up for the midnight kiss, so I guess I technically ushered in the new year).
