“We have to outthink the terrorists,” Senator DeMint said last month in a televised interview. “And when we formed the airport security system, we realized we could not use collective bargaining and unionization because of that need to be flexible.”
If we’re relying on Senator DeMint to outthink the terrorists, we are well and truly fucked.
I see Obama backing down again, throwing his nominee to the wolves. Now his nominees all have to be anti-union, although I think that suits Obama just fine.
I’m wanting so much for a Democratic challenger to defeat DeMint.
He graduated from the same high school I did (but about 10 years later). He is a disgrace to his teachers, who were very good in teaching US government and history.
He is all posture and no policy. I don’t know what they put in the water around 1992, but to go from having the most notable local politician be Richard Riley to it being Jim DeMint is serious de-evolution.
i have two QOTDs.
quote 1:
and this one:
well and truly fucked indeed.
l think this one really sums it up…from your first tpm link:
the largest mandate since watergate has been squandered in obama’s first year in office by a lack of leadership and a failed attempts at some sort of nebulous bipartisanship.
and they wonder why coakly lost?
fucking idiots, all of them, from the top down.
Is al Qaeda unionized? I wonder if you can file a grievance if you’re chosen to be a suicide bomber.
The negotiations on retirement benefits must be difficult.
Yep. That’s what happens when nineteen less senators gives the GOP a majority.
DeMint couldn’t outthink a house plant.

The Obama Disconnect: What Happens When Myth Meets Reality
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
I personally oppose unions in government jobs, but it’s a ridiculous reason to oppose a nominee. It’s the same as Ben Nelson and his anti-abortion fetish in the nominees. There’s no reason to deny someone a nomination because of their fucking political views. The only time you deny it is if they cannot do their job due to being unqualified, or if there’s some major ethical concerns (like if an Attorney General won’t prosecute war crimes…cough).
