Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Week’s Theme: Random. Your choice.
Website(s) of the Week: View Obama had on entering the chamber for the SOTU, taken by White House Photographer Pete Souza. (More images from the SOTU can be found in this flickr set.)

lol at the lock sign.
I like the look of the transit shots – the first two really look UFO-ish or alien or like something you’d see in a movie or video game set in the future.
The sign is hysterically funny. The rest of the pictures are fascinating — especially the “SEPTA PCC Trolleys Waiting To Ship Out”.
I especially liked the trolley shots. The color one would make a good poster for a “don’t let mass transit die” rally. An aside, Memphis has done some nice things with some old, used trolleys.
Really nice set. The top one “Dirty” is especially good as are the trolleys. How did you ever find it?
That bottom one of the bee in the flower has me yearning for warmer weather. The cold has kept me indoors mostly so far this year and it’s really depressing. I don’t know if I suffer from Seasonal Affliction Disorder or what but I have lost a lot of drive this winter.
Thanks for posting that shot.
As a Mass. native I can relate to that. It’s why we moved to Fl., the snow and wheelchairs don’t go well.
I love the sculpture – the colours and the framing. Really lovely.
And I agree w/ ss re the flower and bee. I’m dealing w/ a major case of the winter blahs too, so it’s really nice to be reminded of what is coming in a few months (colour, life, warmth … ;-).
Thanks, spent some time getting to know her. The camellias are in bloom and looking beautiful, in between the freezes.
Great set. I agree with olivia — I love the shot of the sculpture.
I must agree with olivia and Andi, I really like the sculpture shot. Also, it appears your kitty has a cousin in Indiana;-)
Now that looks like a happy cat!
These are spectacular. Are you a working photographer? You should be. Love that tower dripping from the lantern. The cross in the sky above the mosque. Love all of them.
thanks so much for your nice comment. No, I’m just doing this for fun. I actually got a new camera in September and ever since I’ve been snapping away with much more gusto than before 😉
As for the mosque, that’s actually a catholic church 😉
the towers are typical of baroque churches, and can especially be found in southern Germany and Austria. while I was photographing the church, one plane left a vaport trail and shortly thereafter another plane crossed its path.
if you’d like you can find more pics in my flickr account.
A truly wonderful set but the second and last shots really stand out for me — their combination of perspective and pattern is so effective.
Oh, those are amazing Sven.
The Mannheim – Engelhorn immediately caught my eye with all the sparkles. Also enjoyed the lamplight “ornament”, although they were all good to see!
Nice set!
feeling flaky:
Well I think that flakiness needs some exuberance to go with it. 🙂
There’s green! I like to see green at this time of year … 🙂
I like detail shots like this, it’s a way of stimulating and developing one’s eye for the details of larger compositions.
Imogen is working in Canberra this coming week, so I decided to go up with her for a few days, especially because the Musee d’Orsay collection is at the National Gallery and we both wanted to see it. We’ve got tickets for tomorrow morning, pre-crowds. Anyway, I’m on a tight schedule this morning, so I’ve only got time for re-posting images that I’ve already got in my ImageShack account.
Nice set. I especially like the peacock picture with the wonderful patterns and texture.
The landscape view is magnificent. Gorgeous.
Enjoy the show. Spending time in the Musée d’Orsay was one of the highlights when I visited Paris.
Very nice, as usual! It strikes me how similar the feather layering is to some pine cones.
From around our country county. Coincidentally, they also represent the seasons.

Frosted
Given the temps, I find it hard to believe that pretty flower is outside.
The election season shot is a great capture.
You’re right, of course, the crocus is from a spring of the past. The candidate is now a resident of the office next to mine and is a nice neighbor. She’s a big improvement over Ms. Sourpuss (R) who was there when I started.
The crocus is so pretty … I can’t wait for spring.
I planted these close to 20 years ago when we first moved in. Every year there are more and I divide and spread them further. They’re first green things to appear in the spring.

I do really like the top shot. Congrats on making stoplights feel gorgeous.
The glow of the purple anemone is amazing.
Love the Home Turn photo too … and False Ripples. Love all the images and reflections in the water. Gorgeous set Head!
A lovely set! Home Turn and Ballerinas are my picks for favorite this time around.
Got to love “False Ripples”.
Love the snowy “eyelashes” Andi and the raider of the bird feeder, olivia!
