We’re picking up our 6yo niece in a few hours for an sleepover.
We’ve got watercolors and pens and paper, modeling sand, Sculpy, bubbles, and gelli baff. Plus candy forms to make easter chocolates. That should get us through until tomorrow when she goes home.
After that we’ll probably take it easy for a day before resuming our usual weekend renovations.
I will be out playing with my new camera and taking lots of pictures. Here is one of the first shots I took with the camera yesterday. I am a novice and am learning as I go. LOL
Putter about in the yard. The long long bone-chilling Chicago Winter is over. The trees are budding out and I finished my apple grafting yesterday. The first yellow crocus appeared this week. My grandson and I dug up the vegetable bed and planted spinach (warm weather won’t last very long). On Sunday afternoon, we will start some heirloom tomato plants in the basement, Box Car Willie and Cherokee Purple.
I love to mess about with fruit trees and vegetables. It makes me feel as one with my peasant ancestors, although they tended citrus and olive trees. Those won’t grow here.
Mrs. ID picked up a couple of flats of pansys yesterday, so I’ll be digging in the dirt a bit. Pulled some vines the other night after work and as a result, have poison ivy blisters on both hands. Nothing debilitating, just annoying. Sunday, we get together with all the kids & grandkids for a brunch outing.

Ooh, Sculpey…can I come over and play too?
Certainly. We made dragons this morning. The niece is on a bit of a fairy and dragon kick at the moment.
Then we made Easter chocolates (bunnies and eggs) for her to take home with her later today. That way her parents can deal with sugar hype. 😉
Love it.
I make dragons out of paper.
Origami is so
effing
cool.
I can even make an egg.
(Left: Dragon by Aunt. Right: Dragon by Niece. Actual size.)
Cute. I have made lots of frogs and wizards and critters with the boys over the years, and it’s always so much fun.
And now I get to do it all over again in a few years. 🙂
The voice of God.
An Angel at least.
I can’t believe you haven’t posted “here’s where the story ends” that song gives me the shivers every time
Here you go:
I’m surprised no-one has put up Summertime, one of my personal favourite Sundays tracks:

Serendipitous napping is on the agenda as well.
If all goes as planned, get in my first, second, and third bike rides of the year.
I love the thread. I’ve always been a big fan of The Sundays. I have all three of their albums. Whatever happened to them?
