I have a kind of unwritten rule that I don’t respond to right-wing talk radio hosts. That’s why you so seldom see Rush Limbaugh mentioned at the Frog Pond. But apparently he’s now arguing that it is the Democratic Party, not the Republicans, who want to keep black people out of positions of power. He’s saying this because the South Carolina Democratic Party and the DSCC have no interest in helping indicted porn-peddler Alvin Greene in his quest to dethrone Sen. Jim DeMint. No one knows how this guy won the nomination but it’s quite obvious that he isn’t a serious candidate. He’s unemployed. He raised no money. He spent no money. He didn’t campaign. And he’s got this to deal with:
A Richland County grand jury based in Columbia, S.C., handed down the indictment on Friday for disseminating, procuring or promoting obscenity. He was also indicted on a misdemeanor charge of communicating obscene materials to a person without consent, the Associated Press reported.
Greene was arrested in November after police charged that approached a female University of South Carolina student in the school’s library, showed her the lewd photos, and suggested they go to her dorm room.
The fact that he’s criminally creepy and completely broke might have more to do with the Democrats’ lack of enthusiasm for his campaign than the color of his skin.
But, hey, the best refutation of Limbaugh’s nonsense is the president of the United States. Last I checked, that was a position of power, and the Democrats put him there.
as a Black person, here’s my take on Greene:
Either
1. He’s a paid off plant.
or
2. He’s the Black Sarah Palin
either way, he’s got to go.
Problem is, he is not going to go willingly and the racial politics of South Carolina is such that there are a lot of Democrats who will not shove him out of the nomination. They had their chance after the primary and after an hour and a half executive session decided not to take it.
Most likely it is more like option 2. Completely over his head. And most likely he will be able to get at least 10% of the vote. The investigation of his finances rules out option 1. The State Law Enforcement Division subpoenaed his bank records. The transaction were as Greene stated. The District Attorney decided not to bring charges for his getting a public defender; the public defender bowed out and Greene has a private defense attorney now.
And there are two things to remember. (1) This is South Carolina, where the law about distributing obscene material is both broad and harsh. (2) This hasn’t gone to trial, so only the indictment contains details, which might or might not show guilt. Only the process of trial with establish guilt or innocence under the law.
Finally, it is a “she said, he said” case that the alleged victim’s mother decided to give national publicity. And he was reportedly identified by the alleged victim from a university security camera footage that might or might not have captured the incident.
Time will tell. Bet the trial is after November.
Okay, maybe he’s innocent. He still hasn’t got a prayer in hell of winning and the Dems rightly want nothing to do with him.
Heard someone, think it was Rush, on the radio today saying the dems set up the (false) porn charge to get Greene off the ticket. don’t recall precisely who it was (was surfing the dial). may have been karl rove being interviewed by rush, or rush responding to karl rove.
Problem was, the incident happened last year. Last November I believe. So Rush, as usual, is full of shit. I still say this is a ratfucking operation.
I don’t care what the investigation found, something smells. It’s a ratfucking operation.
agree with you on that. (re: lies. heard lots of other lies on the program during the 5-10 minutes I listened)
‘Krauthammer’s analogies suck’. I agree. Treblinka isn’t in Germany. Nazism isn’t a religion with houses of worship. Is the Krapman actually arguing that the Polish government is going to approve a multicultural center founded by German Nazis now reaching out in a spirit of reconciliation. Wow. George Orwell meets Franz Kafka.
Were he a Republican, his comrades would be cheering him on.
