I recall that many conservatives opposed divestiture of South African companies back in the Reagan era. The idea offered in opposition to divestiture was we were punishing the poor blacks who worked for those companies.
In short, you were a bigot if you opposed apartheid by not investing in South Africa. Pam G is basically playing the same melody but presenting it in a much less subtle manner.
