Should the DSCC spend precious resources on Scott McAdams in the Alaska senatorial race? I don’t know, but I do know that it doesn’t cost a lot to compete in Alaska’s media market. In my opinion, the blogosphere should raise a couple million for McAdams in September and see if that changes the look of play in the race. We’re talking about a six-year term here. It seems worth it to me to fight for a winnable seat to avoid having a lunatic serving in the Senate for the remainder of Obama’s presidency. What do you think?
You can donate to McAdams here.
Yes, they should definitely be spending on this race. They should not waste resources on Meek. Florida is too expensive, and he has no shot; plus he will take votes from Crist.
This is easier to win than Florida, and Alaska’s vote is just as valuable as Florida’s.
Although I’d recommend waiting, just a little bit. If they haven’t spent much of anything by October and it’s a 10 point race, they should go all out for McAdams.
I would like to see a generic ad put together with a split screen showing clips of direct quotes from Bush admin paired up with current Rep leadership.
Whether it be a clip of Cheney’s crowd talking about bombing Iran paired with a current clip of any number of right leaders declaring we should drop a bomb
The whole littany could be easily laid out because it’s time we stopped trying to win votes with logic and facts, we instead need to start bringing the fear home that a govt run by the Rep’s would translate into.
And as much fear as the rest of the states should feel, Alaska is undeniably a welfare state and if the fact that the TeaParty candidate wants to pull the plug on that hydrant of Federal Funds that Ted Stevens worked his ugly butt off to bring home, if that doesn’t make Alaskan voters stay away from the Rep ticket, then they deserve the loss they’ll soon see.
So yes, DNC, this is a race that you should go for.
hell yes, they should spend the money
on commercials about the Tea Bagger and his REAL views.
they should have a commercial running every 2 minutes telling Alaskans, who get back FIVE DOLLARS for every dollar they send to Washington that the Tea Bagger wants to STOP ALL THAT.
yes, they should spend the money.
From the perspective of someone praying for a Republican take-over of the Senate…please spend money on this race!
The Senate is won or lost on these races:
Feingold vs. Johnson
Boxer vs. Fiorina
Murray vs. Rossi
Gianoullis vs. Kirk
Reid vs. Angle
We need four of five, and these are blue or purple states, and the odds are against us.
You may have some longshots (i.e. Portman vs. Fisher, Blunt vs. Carnahan, and a few others), and we have our longshots (McMahon vs. Fisher, the West Virginia race has tightened), but control of the Senate will be decided by the five races above. Spend your money there–you only need to keep 2 of five seats. If you want to squander in Alaska–go for it!
What an idiot…McMahon vs. Blumenthal. I need to improve my proof-reading skills. Dooo!
translation: very worried about AK
Of course they should. Especially since this could still turn out to be a three-candidate race.
Trading Blanche for the Alaska yokel can only be an improvement.
Spend away!
