That’s right, it’s time to roll. I think we need to re-energize the youth and minority voters who turned out so huge in 2008. If we can get even half of those voters back, we’ll keep the House and Senate.
After all, the whole point of politics is that it gives me an additional avenue of self-expression.
It’s a wonderful chance to do social signaling with my friends and potential friends via my expressing my preferences about consumer goods on offer — but one that doesn’t cost me actual money. And that’s important in the depths of a recession.
The Dems have so far completely blown their chance, and they have done so by being too fucking nice. Yes, a great deal of legislation went through that was needed, but if they cannot keep their majority how long do you think those advances will last?
The war criminals of the Bush adminstration should have been frog-marched across the media within the first six months of the Obama administration. Instead they tried “the middle way.” The middle way does not work with extremists. The only thing that happens is that the middle is pulled towards the extremes.
And here we are two years later, with Palin/Beck being touted as a possible Republican ticket in 2012.
You might yet get your wish. Richard Daley is retiring as mayor of Chicago. Some see that as the perfect place to move Rahm to. It more fits his style.
Last I heard, the assumption was that Gibbs will take over as Chief of Staff if Rahm leaves. I’m sure the “professional left” would have a ball with that one.
Plouffe’s manner of speech and his gestures STRONGLY resemble Obama’s…
Thanks for posting this Booman. I am tired of the defeatism too and am ready to roll.

No compromise on ending tax cuts for the wealthy. YES! This is a big deal! I’m excited!
Now lets go back to the tax rates that brought us decades of prosperity.
Who, me? I’d rather carp.

That is the point to all of this, isn’t it?
🙂

Thanks for the advice Arthur Gilroy, but I’m glad you’re not running the show.
I would have gone for broke, Lodus.
Cheney/Bush on the stand, being questioned about war crimes.
Bet on it.
Could we be in any worse position?
I think not.
Time for some courage.

In all seriousness, shut the hell up.

Wake the fuck up.
The 2010 election is already over.
And the bad guys have won.
Again.
Just as it’s always been.
Wake the fuck up.

I like David Plouffe a lot. Wish he had been in Rahm Emmanuel’s chair in the White House all these many months….
You might yet get your wish. Richard Daley is retiring as mayor of Chicago. Some see that as the perfect place to move Rahm to. It more fits his style.
If that happens, who backfills Rahm’s job?
Last I heard, the assumption was that Gibbs will take over as Chief of Staff if Rahm leaves. I’m sure the “professional left” would have a ball with that one.
I’m sure that Gibbs is pushing that line. But Obama had to bring Plouffe back into service for some reason.
Yeah, Gibbs has an interesting resume:
I guess I know who he calls the “professional left”.
