I had a dream this morning that my company got another horrendous account with a totally dysfunctional client, and I got stuck with them. Oy.
I was hoping Finny would sleep in a little this morning, but he’s already waking up. Guess he’s recovering from the baseball yesterday. Must be all the vitamin D we got while ducking the baseballs coming up from the field.
Dream or nightmare?
That Finny sure does get around. 😉
I’m here for my nightmare Monday. I’ll check in later to tell how it went.
So, did you survive your nightmare?
My week is looking like it will be a nightmare, I’m hoping that by knuckling under and getting stuff done I can bring the nightmare to an end – before it’s the end of me. 🙂
I’m betting that you’ll win. Yep, I survived like 2 hours of negotiations on one of my most annoying cases.
sympathies to both of you!! hope week picks up. somewhat reduced stress here, actually got some real sleep last night for a change.
guess i should add that that is the case because relative to extra meeting on sunday for which i prepared all weekend, monday was not so bad
That’s always been the upside to dread for me — it makes reality seem much better than it actually is just by comparison.
The dread is often worse than the reality…I hate it when I wake up constantly, worrying about the day ahead. :/
It’s says, “Will you finish already? I need to check your bowl for any molecules of food you might have missed”.
Hmm, I thought I heard him say “Come on and share. No one ever feeds me anything”.
P.S. I always like how they go and lick out each others dish — apparently the other dogs crumbs are always tastier.
Mine do that too. Dumbledore always tried to figure out how to eat from 2 bowls at the same time…it was funny to see him try to hover over both bowls and have to decide on only one of them.
dinner time for the dogs has become a much calmer event with his passing.
All of dogs have been very good about not trying to get food from the other dogs’ bowls until they’re clearly done (look but don’t touch seems to be the motto).
What I never get is how they each have to “clean-up” after the other, even though both of them lick their bowls spotlessly clean in the first instance.
Maybe they just want to save us humans the trouble of having to ever wash out their bowls. Or maybe they just like the taste of each others spit. 🙂
Drive by. It’s c-c-cold here. Brrrr.
cold? Gimme some of that. Nineties all week here.
You’d be welcome to whatever you want of ours. We’re slowly creeping towards Spring, which, if we are lucky will happen on a weekend this year.
Got that chicken I’ve been waiting on. I’ll post pics tomorrow – when there’s a bit of light to take a photo with.
At last! You can count your chickens, now. 🙂
Ba’dum ching!
Harold (the rooster) was certainly counting his. He kept scratching at the dirt and jumping up in the air a few inches every 10 seconds or so – apparently this is sexy to girl chickens.
So life imitates art and now the roosters look like Mick Jagger.
Yep. That about sums it up. Although Harold is better looking, and to the best of my knowledge has never worn a uni-tard.
You go Harold!
He is. Unfortunately the new chicken is very frightened by her new circumstances, and runs off whenever the other birds get too close. I’m not sure she’s ever been free-ranged before and I suspect that all of our open space is a bit overwhelming. She keeps hanging out in the back of the shed.
Poor thing! Hope she is oriented within the pecking order and settled soon.
I suspect she’ll settle in soon – after all, they’re not the most complex creatures I’ve ever had. I’ve been hanging out and keeping the other birds in line, so maybe she’ll start to understand that at least I’m not any danger to her. I’ve also set her up her own feed and water spot.

Yawn, Andi. Your woods are just so predicable (predictably beautiful, that is).
This is a glamour shot — you wouldn’t want to see the woods too close up right now since the drought and the extremely hot summer have beat the trees up worse than I’ve ever seen.
Some trees have already dropped all their leaves (about 6 weeks early) and most of the maples are turning (about 3-4 weeks early).
I think we may have had a bit of precip last night, or maybe just a heavy dew.
We had a thunderstorm but it only rained for about 30 minutes. I’m guessing you had some of the same. It barely wet the forest floor, though.
Oh, how peaceful!
I can’t believe how fast this hump dy has arrived this week – I’m afraid I’ll run out of week before I run out of things to get done. =)
I am loving the cool weather, tho. Blankets and snuggling, yum.
Cool weather? What cool weather? High today is 91, tomorrow 93. Yuck.
Oh, I guess we’ll be warming up for the weekend then…
I just checked the forecast for Philly and it’s got some hotter but not as hot (it was 96 in Indy yesterday) temps starting today but it’s going to cool down for the weekend.
You were correct – it was a beautiful day when I went out at lunchtime, but now it’s a muggy swamp…
We’re enjoying it too. The a/c is off for the season!
Purdy.
The woods this year are getting be to be a lot like me — looking a lot better from a distance than close-up. 😉
LOL! Isn’t that true for most of us?
Well no — you were absolutely adorable close up. 🙂
The lighting must not have been very good that day. 😉
Happy first/second day of spring, Keres, Imogen, & menagerie.
Thanks Jim. Yesterday was very Spring-like, so of course today is starting with overcast and drizzle. At least we’re lighting the heater less often as the overall temperatures are rising.
The birdies are definitely getting Spring fever. A pair of swans living near the Bridgewater bridge already have four young fluffy cygnets.
How long till we get to see some photos of orchids?
Sometime late in October, at the earliest.
Looking forward to those.
Good — that’s not too long and I can always use something to look forward to.
Same here. Love orchids!!!
Fall is in the air this morning, currently 51F with high of 74F predicted. We made the first trip to our favorite orchard last night to haul back a load of cider for the fire dept. fish fry that begins today.
Fire dept fish fry! cider! sounds wonderful!
Here’s a little sample from the orchard.
That’s one of my favorite things about fall…I’m ready to take Finny to see the apple cider donut machine in action at the orchard market now. 🙂
Have a great time! We’re going to a picnic/rally at a friends’ farm.
what great fun!!!
very delicious looking!!!
They look delicious! Care to overnight some? 😉
I’ll ask our friends if they ship:)
Hope you had a good crowd.
I’m not going anywhere near town or Bloomington on the weekends until the leaves or gone — or at least until they open both lanes at the bridge being repaired on 46. You cannot believe how the traffic backs up at that on weekends.
I heard horror stories from friends about the bridge wait time, and I saw Friday night that my favorite photogenic route to the orchard through Morgan-Monroe Forest is going to close for repairs Oct. 4 and the alternate is always much more congested:(
Going to Columbus is actually much worse (on weekends) but I can take back roads to get around that. There’s no way around it coming back from town or Bloomington when it’s backed up for several miles. Normal fall weekend traffic is enough to make me avoid that drive but now I’m positively inspired to stay away.
Well I’m angry because we never got all those personal helicopters futurists said in the 50s we would all have by now! Then we wouldn’t need no stinkin’ roads. WTF happened to all that stuff we used to see on The Jetsons anyway?
Looking back on it, I’m glad I had my experience of Indiana traffic jam this summer so I can envision the situations you describe. My recollection includes some very nice ppl (no one could figure out what the delay was and how much of the h/way was involved) and one wise alec who when I asked something about where the highway went (meaning, what does it go through that is causing the delay and can I get off somewhere) replied disdainfully “it goes to St. Louis”.
like leaves turning in a drought … and every Monday.

wonderful picture!
Fall is coming quickly here as well. Our car that sits under a tree has been collecting more and more leaves recently. There is always a pile at the base of the windshield.
Ooh, worthy of a new cafe.
I’m sorry about the drought, but its a pretty picture.
I just realized I missed posting this morning because Finn was up at 5:45….the shorter days (and increasing mobility) are making him go to bed earlier, and get up earlier too. Where will I find my blogging time if this continues?
8:24 – 8:32 p.m. ?
Now I can see it! The blocks are off, at least temporarily. Beautiful shot!
Got home Sunday to find the “black screen of doom” when we tried to start the computer again. It had worked just fine in the morning. Finicky electronics.
Anyway, a new graphics card and a power supply later and we’re back in business. The power supply wasn’t strictly necessary, as it was still working fine, but my philosophy is that if you are going to do repairs replace things that might break sometime soon as well.
Waiting for the clouds to come over and drop snow.
I’ve got to get over feeling pissy every time someone gets some kind of precip. But hasn’t happened yet so I’m even pissed over your getting snow when it’s springtime.
Good morning!
How is everyone – apart from pissy…
Not pissy here, just booked my ticket for a NY-trip next week. Need some quality time with curly and young asklet.
Yay for not being pissy — I hear it’s a great way to be. 🙂
Just a wee bit tired. Looking forward to the latter half of October when things slow down.
And wow, I think I’m at a conference in NYC on the 8th and 9th…I’ll know for sure later today, probably.
Cool – let’s know your details when you have them.

That’s an interesting hump you found there…at first I thought it was a view looking down on a pond. (It’s early).
Things have been crazy here this week – it’s looking like another long day at work today, but hopefully that will wrap up the second big project I’m working on.
Me too (the pond illusion)! I imagined Andi buzzing around in an ultralight aircraft at dawn, snapping photos along the way:)
That makes three of us. Had to check the larger version to get it right.
Except for the scared-of-dying part, I’d love to have an ultralight to go cruising the county in.
Jim thought the same thing as you and ID but I just can’t see it. I guess it’s because my brain can’t get past knowing what it is.
I hope you get it all done and then have a nice long spell of unchallenging work.
I’ll have to check this one when the blocks come off!
I’m sure you’ll agree with everybody else — making me the most unperceptive person at BT. Oh well, at least I’ll get to excel at something. 😉
