I had fun today. I woke for the third straight day with the feeling that I’d been sleeping with my teeth clenched all night. But, today, I found the source of the pain. My left six-year molar had caved-in in an area hard to reach by toothbrush. This then led to a gum infection. This was not the end of my bad news. I have the same problem with the right six-year molar, but it hasn’t developed a sinkhole, yet. As a bonus, I have three more superficial cavities that need filling. The estimated cost of this is in excess of $600 because I have no dental insurance. Did you know that 178 gallons of heating oil costs over $500 now? That’s a nice one-two blow to take, don’t you think?
In any case, I’m in pain, I can’t eat solid food, and I’m grumpy.
Spent 36 years drinking city/municipal water= 2 cavities
Spent 5 years drinking well water= 5 cavities
Fluoride added to city water?
yep.
Socialism bad.

I feel your pain. I just spent $610 today for dental work. Three cavities. No insurance.
I’m sorry about the detal pain. Hope that goes away.
The price of oil is going up again. Speculators are having a good time.
Heating oil is going to be impossible for some people to buy enough to keep at all warm this winter. The state of Maine comes to mind. Some people there had an awful time when oil went up. I don’t know what they are going to do this year.
Did you drop a 0 from that dental estimate? Last year, I cracked a rotten tooth in half and replacing it with a crown cost nearly 3000 uninsured dollars! I couldn’t believe it. If you’re getting all that dental work for $600, it’s a bargain!
Well, today I dropped $229 for an examination, x-rays, and one filled cavity. I have four more to go, plus a $100 teeth-cleaning. But, I won’t need any more x-rays, so I think the estimate is probably about right, as long as I don’t need any root canals.
Posts like this are why I hate cons more and more day by day. My privileged life style will not be affected one inch by this deficit commission, and here people are, fucked as it is, while other white wankers bust all over Alan Simpson’s face.
Well it was only a matter of time:
The bully bigot is home now.
Does the one fill-up last all winter? And heating oil is usually right around gasoline. And that’s been going up lately. My parents use propane, and have a coal stove.
Heh. I literally feel your pain. Same molar same problem. Until you can get taken care of… 800mg of ibuprofen, hydrogen peroxide rinse at least 3 times a day til you can get it taken care of. What’s even worse is I do have dental insurance and still can’t afford it.
Oh yeah, I have found that enough Sam Adams (winter lager for those are that are wondering) until you can’t feel your face.
good luck to you and to me.
EPA today released its permitting guidance for states for large industries required to meet EPA greenhouse gas regulations under the Clean Air Act.
Take a look at this:
Greenhouse Gas Permitting Guidance FAQ
It provides guidance for states to write their state rules for permitting greenhouse gases and states that permits must be available for large emitters by January 2, 2011. Some showboating Republican governors (cough, cough, Rick Perry) have indicated that they will not use this guidance. Now, either Perry is too stupid to know that not permitting means that all large emitters are immediately in violation of the Clean Air Act. Or is posturing in saying that while the Texas environmental agency is writing its own rules to permit under the Clean Air Act (that are “independent” inventions very similar to the guidance).
Not permitting at all means that large emitters are de facto in violation because the state won’t issue them a permit. Interesting how that works.
And EPA has its own enforcement unit.
Expect Republicans to be begging for cap-and-trade by June 2011. Just as long as Democrats hold the line on not revoking the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases.
Maybe that will cheer you up, BooMan.
Just as long as Democrats hold the line on not revoking the EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases.
That depends on an Obama veto, because there are Senate Dems from Coal states, and the House can pass whatever they like re: EPA’s authority. I can easily foresee a situation where enough Dems will lie down on EPA authority in the Senate to allow a vote on any bill passed by the House. Unless the Mainers (Snowe and Collins) are willing to cross party lines to oppose that bill, the EPA’s fate may very well be in the hands of Obama. At this point I can’t say that is an encouraging thought.
Damn are we getting accustomed to Democratic stupidity.
Mrs ID & I are both presently in tooth misery as well. We sympathize with your grumpiness.
I’m here to tell you that whatever it takes to keep your teeth, please do it. It’s worth it.
Due to negligence I now have less than half the teeth I should have, I have no money or coverage for fake teeth & I can’t eat properly at all, so my entire system is a mess.
Also, I look stupid.
Good luck with the dental work — we feel your pain.
BooMan, I’m late in wishing you the best with your dental work. I hope that you’re feeling a little better. We’re lucky to have good dental insurance through madame boran’s employment.
