Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Week’s Theme: Random: Your choice.
Website(s) of the Week: Touching Strangers by Richard Renaldi.

Previous Friday Foto Flogs
but since I don’t, I’ll post some photos from the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear instead!
If any of you went and have photos as well, by all means, I’d love to see them too!
Here’s 11 of my favorite photos that I grabbed and that made it online. The rest of contained within these 5 sets.
Nice sets, ss. What are your thoughts on the day? And did you catch the interview Rachel Maddow did with Jon Stewart last night re: some of the conversations that have been happening post-rally?
(Oh, and Nature is the theme next month so that works…:-)
I didn’t see the Maddow interview but I’m sure I’ll see it online within the week or so.
That said, my opinion of the rally is difficult to put into words, mainly because I went to document it. I never got near the stage, I never saw Stewart or Colbert and I could barely hear what they were saying.
As for the organization itself…? I personally think it was a bit disorganized and could’ve been set up better. I’ve been to several rallies on the mall, all of which were far larger than that and never before had I felt so cramped in an environment that felt so chaotic and anarchistic.
What great images! They seem to show an event that was basically a place to meet, have a good time & express ourselves — so, chaotic & anarchistic seems about right.
But these are nature photos — they’re a completely natural reaction to America’s cockamamie politics.
Great T-shirts, great posters, but most of all, great people. I envy the way you and others take photos of strangers. I have trouble taking photos of people and other animate objects.
It’s just far easier in a situation like a rally where A) everybody has a camera and B) people are there with signs and outfits explicitly to make a statement and for it to be seen by as many people as possible so there much more friendly and agreeable when it comes to people taking their photos.
Good to see you around these parts Olivia! Here’s my sunset over the Hudson River.
Oh wow, b2! Those are stunning … 😀
rThanks! These were taken with my old Nikon point-and-shoot. 4 megapixels of fury. 😉
b2, you remind me again about how much I love these mountains, their worn & gentle shapes.
These are just beautiful! Really great.
Sheesh, you elite easterners are such show-offs. 🙂
That’s a gold standard I would buy into.
Very nice.
Miss Olivia: thank you for your luscious reds & golds! You’ve given them a beautifully sensitive touch. Our colors passed very quickly here.
Andi! What’s your third image of, pray tell? I can’t place it!
Thanks so much to both of you for posting the FFFLog.
It’s a part of a rope course — shot straight up from directly below.
Aha!
I do love a trippy perspective.
I hope this is the “Random Week”.
I have guests in from Canada, (I know, another excuse, but y`all bear with me please.

PLECO MOUTH
(On the glass)
Your sunsets are, as always, absolutely stunning but that Pleco mouth shot really got to me — it’s like George O’Keefe one fishing — weird, sensuous, intriguing, awful, wonderful.
AndiF,
If you click to a larger size, you`ll see that the “teeth” are like little artist`s brushes that sweep the surface algae into their mouths.
I`m still getting used to this tank`s lighting since I just got it.
Fantastic shots, as always, KH.
That’s a beautiful bike.
In this set, your portrait of Coconut is my favorite. I see friendship, serenity & beauty. Makes me happy!
Wilderness Wench,
That`s very kind, but Coconut went on an adventure the other day that was very stressing.
He flew away, having been frightened by a falling leaf, & landed down in the canyon, an inaccessible area for the strength of my heart.
Teri went down & miraculously retrieved him (it was her fault anyway) while I watched from the canyon edge.
If anyone wants to train Navy Seals or Marines, I`ll gladly supervise their descent into this canyon, which is, btw, covered in poison oak & a steepness that defies gravity.
Thank the FSM that all is well
Yikes. Glad both are okay!
Favourite shot is the Mystery Missile Not — for the expanse of sky and the small palm silhouette in Rt corner. Beautiful.
Wilderness Wench,
I should have included a “Thank you” concerning the comment on my bike.
Here it is again with ‘you know who’ in the early seventies.
I`m including a link to other images of my notoriety.

You both look great!
Thanks for your link.
Also: so glad Coconut is OK!
Rereading your post I realized that it was Teri who was in danger, not Coconut. I’m very, very glad that she made it.
Head, so many great shots, but I’m a sucker for Yucca Pinks. Stark and lush is a great combo.
Thank you JimF,
I just sent you a large file of that shot.
I never get bored of my yard where this was taken, but always think that others must have enough of my repetitive images.
The colors are never the same tough.
I love that yucca shot. That would be wonderful in a large print.
Why don`t you check your email account then.
Just because it is definitely fall here in Switzerland…

Thank you for these images, ask. They actually emit warmth!
🙂
Wonderful pair.
Lovely substitute for the brown and gray theme that’s in place here.
Ahhh … beautiful white sand and turquoise water.
Love the skyward snake spine and the golden glow, Andi & Olivia.

Love the fridge — way better than a bunch of magnets that say Indianadem for Assessor. 🙂
Hopefully, it will not be necessary to drag those out ever again.
lol, love the post-it fridge.
Here’s some fall foliage from an Arkansas freeway.
Excellent use of perspective. And nice of all the cars to get out of your way so you could take that “clean” shot. 🙂
Thanks. I was lucky to have chosen a day where traffic was minimal. Otherwise, taking a photo while driving 70 mph would have been even crazier than it already was. 🙂
Hey there. 🙂 Welcome back (saw your comments in the Cafe above).
Looks like a beautiful day for driving (those two puffy clouds above the road look like eyes!).
in full regalia –
bright reds, yellows – beneath them

“Autumn Leaves” – crossposted at ECFS.
Thanks for posting the lovely photos!
My pleasure.
Shooting the Leonid meteor shower the other night/morning with my friend Steve. If they’re hard to see in this shot, you can click through and hover over the shot for notes and then from there, you can explore the rest of the set which includes shots of several faint meteor trails as well as a couple satellite and/or airplane trails.
New Hope, PA
Bowman’s Hill Tower in Bucks County, PA just outside of New Hope
All three shots will take you to the corresponding sets if you want to see the more pictures from each area.
