Welcome to Friday Foto Flogging, a place to share your photos and photography news. We were inspired by the folks at European Tribune who post a regular Friday Photoblog series to try the same on this side of the virtual Atlantic. We also thought foto folks would enjoy seeing some other websites so each week we’ll introduce a different photo website.
This Month’s Theme: Spring. The season, the movement, the object, or whatever the word inspires.
Link of the Month: $22,000 Hasselblad review on amazon (screenshot).

Previous Friday Foto Flogs
What themes would you like to explore / photograph / view for new diaries?
some that I can think of: landscape, architecture, on the road, portrait.
Street, concept, or abstract. Kind of wide open subjects but could produce a wild swing of stuff we’ve never seen here before.
How about picking a letter of the alphabet every few months?
We haven’t had a “What the heck is it?” theme in a while.
Food
Pick a part of speech
Verbs seem like fertile ground.
Portraits
Self portraits
Illustrate a favorite piece of music.
Hands.
Secret places. (I know you’re brilliant at these, Miss O.)
Things Fall Apart.
Air, Fire, Water, Earth.

Great images so far, everyone!
How about “sky” for a theme.
I particularly like both your water shots Olivia.
Thanks NDD. 🙂
Thanks for all the great theme ideas — we’ll add them to the rotation!
Next theme courtesy of Sven: “On the road”.

Since the last Friday Foto Flog, I started posting on tumblr and have set up two tumblelogs: flickr set of the day is set up to highlight the work of others while To Peg With Love is a place where I post my photography and that of my partner from our flickr account. I’d like to invite you to check them out and appreciate any feedback you may have!
They’re all gorgeous but Mannheim – Luisenpark II is special. Perfect composition perfectly shot.
I love the contrast in colors and shapes in Mannheim – Luisenpark III.
I like that wild tree in the Jewish Cemetery.
Beautiful set, Sven. I particularly like the bright yellow background in Mannheim – Luisenpark III.
Nice tumblrs … will follow!
Did you talk to Chris Matthews?
Some signs of spring.
Love that top photo — it makes me smile thinking about the happiness all that planting is going to bring.
I’m fascinated by the third photo. I don’t have any idea what it is but various idea keep popping into my head (the latest one involves Grouch Marx).
The little bird looking at that one-eyed thing looking at it and sizing it up as food or foe is my favorite.
Love that red wagon full of new plants … 😀
Spring in ND 04 17 2011
Here ya go, all you folk who are waxing nostalgic about the loss of that the pretty white stuff.
::quietly cries::
Oh, I hope things are soggy brown and soft green by now.
Often hate to see winter go, and it is mostly for scenes like this one. Spring is too optimistic, always too early, and unreal; winter tells a different story, silence, an ending of life.
Love the light and shadow, the chilliness – not so much;-)
:::weeping for you:::
May wam(er) weather be in your future.
Thanks for the comments.
FYI: I mowed the yard here at the farm today for the first time… so we’ve had enough warm weather to grow grass!
However, there’s a frost warning for Monday morning, so I had to bring the starter plants in for the night. Gardening is going to be a bit tricky this season.
😀
Love the glitters you captured in the snow.

Great use of the theme, short-timer. 🙂
wow, almost done. Barely more than 2 weeks to go!
Almost done indeed. 12 days left ending 37 years of teaching. It will feel so strange next August.
Wow! I’d forgotten this was your last year. My b-i-l retired from D of E when Bennett came aboard with 39. I think he’s enjoying the free time a lot:)
Hey! Does this mean da boat of ya will have time to tour the ND badlands this summer via my informal B&B for BT froggies.
LOL, well done Jim.
We’re counting down the days with you.
Love, love, love that frog in the first photo. Though, it doesn’t look quite real w/ those golden eyeballs. Are the legs made of pipe cleaners by any chance? 😉
Hobby Lobby: crafts and photographic aides. 😉
O, your shots are amazing regardless of scale. I love the little bug on landing approach to the white blossoms.
Andi, your shots with blown out skies blow me away.
I have to agree, Jim. They’ve both outdone themselves again!
Thank you both!

A craft fair on our street today
Our friend Mark, the whimsical metalworker is there
I like his salamanders
Oh I like that metalwork. Looks like that was a very nice event to have right outside your pretty-flower-adorned house.
The fair will be there tomorrow too and there’s free parking behind our house;-)
Thanks for the offer but not only is the forecast not nearly so nice but we have to go do a bunch of stuff in the other direction.
I like the metal work also. Mark wouldn’t happen to have a website… I’d be curious to see more of his work.
We’re fans of street fairs, something new and unique every year.
Mark is a pretty minimalist kinda guy, so he doesn’t have a site, but I did find him on a recent studio tour site with a couple of his other pieces.
Wow, Mark is talented. Lovely work.
And it’s nice to see colourful petals — those irises are beautiful.
Um ~ big gulp on the Hasselblad price ~ wow!
Springtime for sure!
Wow, those are some showy flowers you’ve got out in your woods. Love ’em.
Along with the snowdrops, these crocuses let me know Spring isn’t just a rumor. I love them too!
They’ve passed now — or maybe they’ve just taken off for the Southwest in little sailboats.
Glad spring has finally reached you up there in the hills:)
It sure has!
Nice to see some crocuses. I’d have to go hiking a couple of miles from here to find any.
By the looks of that map you’re domiciled in some pretty rugged country.
Rugged, but pretty enough to convince some of us that it’s tame.
🙂
Good to see you, NDD. Wish I had more time to spend.
Oh ww, those petals look translucent! Beautiful. So good to have your photos in the flog. 🙂
Any compliment on flower pix from you is a real honor. Thanks!
AndiF,
Thanks for the head`s up.
I`ll be back late today or in the morning.
I have some spring ones also.
When a young man’s fancy turns to…oh, fuck it, let’s just get to the pictures. I’ve been missing FFF!
Nice thing about night time in Spring is the frog’s come out and using a flashlight means you can temporarily block your presence while you get real close to them.
Sunsets in HDR are always nice…
Of course, in Springtime, the youngins come out to play!
Springtime also means warmer weather with which to venture out and shoot pictures of things you don’t normally go out to take pictures of. (HDR)
Got a chance to see the PIFA in Philly a couple weeks ago. The closing performance was insane. This was a short, handheld long exposure of it. You can click through to see various other images of the event, as well as a short video.
Another sunset HDR made from a friend’s JPEG’s that he sent me to play with.
And lastly, a pre-tadpole, captured in the jelly in which it was initially laid.
Wonderful HDRs. I especially liked the walking sculptures. The shot looks like something out of a Dr. Who episode.
My fav is the tadpole in jelly. I took a shot of some of its cousins this weekend but haven’t done anything with it.
The tadpole shot is a great capture and the frog is almost as fine. A great set all round.
They’re all wonderful, but having found my way to the large version of the pre-tadpole shot I’d have to say that one is quite spectacular.
Those are fantastic, love the variety. That last shot of the tadpole/frog spawn is amazing!
I hope I can sneak in under any possible deadline.
Sorry I`m so late, but I`m swamped here.
I did view all the beautiful shots in the diary.
Another great presentation by Olivia & AndiF.
Thank you.

A little late maybe, but well worth waiting for. Besides, when I was a kid the locals here used to say they told time by the seasons instead of the clock. Not a bad practice.
Indianadem,
That`s an easy way to tell time.
Thank you.
Absolute proof of the saying better late than never.
I am especially wowed by the two Bird of Paradise photos.
AndiF,
Yes, the Bird of Paradise shots, taken about a week apart, are one of my favorite flowers. The progressive brining up of new sections make it a pleasure to watch bloom.
I have many more out front.
Gorgeous colour and detail in your photos, Head. You have something in your photos … you honour the details.
Agree with Andi re the birds of paradise – they’re lovely.
Hi Olivia,
What a nice thing to say.
Thank you.
