Tennessee’s legislature, by passing the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill” doesn’t want teachers or students to speak or hear the word gay ued in school because — well — because it might teach them that gay people exist. And that’s the my most generous assumption I can make base on their vote to silence all discussion about homosexuality in school.
George Takei (the actor and gay activist who portrayed Sulu on the Original Star Trek series, and Hiro’s father on the recent NBC series Heroes) has a answer for those in Tennessee who seemingly wish to send a message that Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgendered people = Abomination/Spawn of Satan/Etc. Watch his video:
All I can add to that is have a Takei day everyone.
that’s cute
Hey, I’m going to buy some of those buttons.
This is utterly delightful! Thanks for giving me my morning laugh. I needed it after starting Matt Taibbi’s latest article in Rolling Stone about the Goldman Sachs crime bosses.
These legislator’s know they can pass this kind of nonsense, throwing red meat to their rabid base, because they also know the courts will not let this First Amendment violation stand in the long term. It’s just theater, just a stupid waste of time while real problems get worse. Gawd, I hate these idiots.
Well done Mr. Sulu!
Classy. I’m also a fan of the question, how many gays must God create and send to us before we accept that they belong?
