Tennessee’s legislature, by passing the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill” doesn’t want teachers or students to speak or hear the word gay ued in school because — well — because it might teach them that gay people exist. And that’s the my most generous assumption I can make base on their vote to silence all discussion about homosexuality in school.
George Takei (the actor and gay activist who portrayed Sulu on the Original Star Trek series, and Hiro’s father on the recent NBC series Heroes) has a answer for those in Tennessee who seemingly wish to send a message that Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgendered people = Abomination/Spawn of Satan/Etc.
