I'm Happy - Oh & McCain is a Race Baiter, too

I received Breaking Bad Season 3 and Mad Men Season 4 for Father’s day. I have a great family – the got me what I asked for. Best wishes to all the Dads out there and I hope your Father’s day is going just as well as mine.

I sure hope your not as cranky as John McCain today:

“We are concerned about, particularly, areas down on the border where there is substantial evidence that some of these fires are caused by people who have crossed our border illegally,” the former Republican presidential candidate said at a press conference Saturday. “They have set fires because the want to signal others. They have set fires to keep warm and they have set fires in order to divert law enforcement agents and agencies from them.”

I remember when McCain was for immigration reform before he was against it, unless that was his evil twin back in 20008 running for President. Good times, good times.

By the way, is there substantial evidence that Mexican immigrants caused the Arizona wildfires? Uh, not exactly:

[McCain] offered no evidence to substantiate his claim.

But that’s okay, in Tea Party America, because being a Tea Party brown-noser (which by the way McCain has become) means always having to say it’s the Mexican’s fault. Even if it stirs up bigotry, hatred and reinforces existing prejudices. Or as McCain might say, “Evidence? I don’t need no steenking evidence! I’m John Fucking McCain!”

Of course, not everyone agrees with Senator Suck-up/Attention Whore:

Civil rights advocate Randy Parraz told CNN such unfounded allegations were “careless and reckless” and said McCain was trying to make rightist political headway with the wildfire crisis.

“It’s easier to fan the flames of intolerance, especially in Arizona,” Parraz said.

High heat, low humidity and steady winds have helped dozens of fires in Arizona consume more than 700,000 acres of land in the past three weeks.

Yeah, McCain used to believe in climate change, too. Nice to know these severe drought conditions are also the fault of Mexican migrants. Makes thinking rationally about our many problems so much simpler to reject when you can find the appropriate scapegoat, doesn’t it?

So, Happy Father’s Day everyone! Except you Senator McCain. You can go sit in the corner while getting a tattoo on your forehead with the words “RACIST HYPOCRITE” in big red letters. By a bad tattoo artist, too.

I thought the liberal environmentalists screaming climate change would be blamed. The illegal aliens are either busy toiling our nation’s soil or trying to gain entry by digging tunnels under our border (de)fence.

BTW when the 1923 Great Kantō earthquake struck Tokyo Region, the authorities blamed it on the Korean immigrants. Mobs of vicious locals rounded up thousands of the Koreans [and socialists] and massacred them .

I saw this on another blog and one commenter pointed out that McCain should be more familiar with the geography of his state or at least have taken a look at some satellite images of the fire before he spoke out: the fire is in the eastern, central part of Arizona, not down on the southern border with Mexico. I Google’d and found a map of the fire on the Fire Earth blog ( http://feww.wordpress.com/tag/arizona-fire-satellite/ – need to scroll down to find the state-wide map ) Here’s the map:

I see from commenters on another blog that firefighters are also battling wildfires in the southern part of Arizona. However, McCain was speaking after visiting the Wallow fire site. From “McCain blames illegal immigrants for wildfires” by Justin Elliott on Salon:

McCain did not detail the “substantial evidence” for his claim, so I inquired about it with his spokeswoman, Brooke Buchanan. She told me in an email Sunday that the senator “was given the information by a Forest Service official during his visit to the Wallow fire damaged area on Saturday.” (That fire, in the eastern part of Arizona and New Mexico, has burned more than half a million acres.)

A spokesman for the agencies fighting the Wallow fire, however, told ABC that while the fire is believed to be human-caused, he knows of “no evidence” that illegal immigrants were involved.

Buchanan says that McCain wasn’t referring to the Wallow fire, but rather some smaller blazes at Coronado National Forest near the U.S.-Mexico border.
