New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says he’s never felt more pressure to win a football game than the one they play today. That’s kind of odd since the Jets have played in the AFC Championship Game two years in a row, and just missed out on going to the Super Bowl. But I guess I understand his desire to win for the New York fans. Still, the silliness of it is made plain when you think about the fact the other New York football team (the New York Giants) is playing in Washington against the Redskins. If the Giants win, won’t they ruin the 9/11 commemoration for all the Washington-based folks?
I haven’t watched any 9/11 stuff this week or today. Remembering that day makes me sick. Remembering what resulted makes me even sicker. I can’t stomach even the bits that seep into the football coverage. I’m glad the Giants are playing in Washington so I don’t have to look at Rudy Giuliani’s ugly mug all throughout the game. The Giants should win not for the New York fans but to punish the do-nothing Congress for screwing up our credit-rating and tanking the stock market.
Too bad I have to wait until 4:15 for the beating to commence.
