   until I realize they’re pretty well-armed, and have itchy trigger-fingers.

   I fear for what might happen once they stop shooting themselves in their feet, and start shooting other people’s feet/bodies/possessions/etc…

   There’s a distinct lack of consequential thinking in their DNA.

   We just had a dumper of a snowstorm and on my way down the hill I happened upon our token Repub neighbor who was stuck in the ditch. He was standing there with his hands in his pocket…so I asked if he’d like me to throw a cable line on his vehicle and put some wenching muscle to his problem..

   As I wenched I noticed his tires were spinning… backwards. Had to yell at him to take the car out of reverse and put it into neutral. Sigh.

   Arizona man accidentally shoots self

   Paul Mitchell, 26, was shot in his hand and leg. The single, hollow-point bullet apparently grazed Mitchell’s left hand and entered his left thigh. It then traveled down his leg and exited through his left calf area. Mitchell apparently sleeps with his loaded, Springfield XDM .40 handgun next to his bed and was preparing to clean it when the gun went off. Cauthen said Mitchell was very lucky because the bullet apparently did little damage and went through and through. He was also very fortunate that the bullet didn’t hit his wife, who was in the bed with him.  

   "But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."

   Stuff like this gives lie to the claim that there’s any elites “running” the Republican Party from the shadows.

   Because anybody with even a single functioning brain cell in power, with the capacity to do something about it, would realize that their party is fucking dead. Forever.

   Instead of trying to unite whites and Hispanics against black people (as is the American Way, going back to the seventeenth century), the GOP just went whole hog on racism against everybody everywhere. It’s a sordid end for the original party of abolition.

     Back in aught-one, the Republicans liked to crow about how the fastest-growing states and fastest-growing counties were all deep red.

     It apparently never occurred to them that an influx of people who aren’t from deep red states and counties might change those fast-growing districts’ voting patterns.

   Yeah, but the TX GOP shouldn’t be worried…they can try redrawing the districts over and over, until they get one they like.  Just like before.

   Don’t ever think you can win a permanent victory against The Stupid. It’s like a hydra: every time you cut off a head, two more grow back, with even smaller brains.

   Remember when Tom Delay had the state legislature redraw the Congressional map to create more “safe” Republican districts, and then a bunch of them went Democratic in the next two elections?

   Stupid, stupid racists.
