They’re trying to thug Santorum out of the race:
“If Santorum runs a principled campaign and then concedes graciously then he has a big future ahead,” said Steve Schmidt, who managed McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. “If he runs a character campaign attacking Romney, then Santorum’s future is more limited.”
Essentially, what Schmidt is saying (and many others, as well) is that Santorum can have a lucrative career with tons of Wingnut Welfare if he will just stop attacking Mitt Romney and play nice.
I suppose Santorum might take the hint, but he’s on a moral crusade. He is fighting for your soul, people. Don’t you get it? He doesn’t want no stinking Saturday program on Fox News.
Amazing how many lies a Republican can pack into one small wordblob.
Always gratifying to watch Republicans attempting crude extortion while trumpeting “principles”, though. This ass is a master of that thuggish art.
Tough. He’ll get one anyway. Unless his contract with The Vatican Channel has a non-compete clause.
Essentially, what Schmidt is saying (and many others, as well) is that Santorum can have a lucrative career with tons of Wingnut Welfare if he will just stop attacking Mitt Romney and play nice.
And do what exactly? Santorum was already on the wingut welfare circuit. Just the religious part. Not the corporate stooge part like Mittens would be. And The Frothy One will go back to the religious wingnut welfare circuit after this is over, whether he bows out now or two months from now.
This. The corporate wing has no leverage over Santorum. It has no leverage over Gingrich either. The existence of alternative wingnut welfare circuits has become a pain in the corporate wing’s ass, if not a threat to it.
Santorum just said
I guess he’s not taking them up on their offer.
At least you didn’t name this Squeezing Santorum Out.
I was waiting for this.
I thought you might be. But I couldn’t help it.
I’m waiting for the “Romney Wipes up Santorum” headline when it’s finally over.
And yet as Santorum searches his soul for temptation, up pops a large piece that Rachel did last night (based on information compiled by Steve Bennen) on Romney’s penchant for lying.
Bennen has compiled 10 segments worth. Not 10 lies. 10 packages of ’em. She poses the obvious question, which must have Santorum salivating, of what role dishonesty would play in a Romney Administration. Where would his habit take the role the US plays in world affairs?
Since Santorum has a household full of kids I’m betting that the man is no stranger to temptation.
who gives a fucking shit about any of these fucking assholes and what they think?
This is probably a good time for some Democrats to sorta-endorse Romney, using the line:
“Well, he’s probably lying, so maybe he’s not so bad after all”
The treatment of Hillary Clinton’s campaign must still bother me, because my first reaction to this post is to ask whether we’d all agree that Hillary Clinton was thugged out of the race.
since she stayed in the race until the bloody end, I’d have to answer that in the negative.
