Saturday Painting Palooza Vol.354

Hello again painting fans.

This week I’ll be continuing with the southern Arizona scene.  The photo that I am using is seen directly below.  I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8×8 inch gallery wrap canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

There are lots of changes for this week’s cycle.  I’ve made a number of additions to the background.  To the far rear, the hills now have shadows and some texture.  The result is more depth and dimension.  In the foreground, texture and shading have been added.  The bright orange I used produced good results.  In between background and foreground now lives an area of rather bright green plants.  I’m calling them junipers.  In fact, most of the colors seen in the painting are brighter than the original photo.  I like them here but would not find them appropriate in my Cape May pieces.

With these changes, the painting is complete.  This one is going to the next show at the Kent Art Association.  Drop by if you’re in the neighborhood.  One last thing, the photo has washed out the blues of the sky, and made the clouds difficult to see.

The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.

That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have an entirely new piece to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.

Earlier paintings in this series can be  seen here.
