For some strange reason, that reminded me of an old Cheech & Chong routine, probably best not repeated here. My memory is pretty foggy about which album it came from ~ go figure.
Really tough question. Do you mean in my personal life? In politics? From Romney? From Issa? From somebody at Fox? There are just so many choices and so little time.
I will go with Romney’s lie that Obama had huge majorities in both houses of Congress but didn’t even try to get any immigration reform done.
that was a pretty good one.
Which statement is the lie?
“Obama had huge majorities…” Isn’t that true? You Progs rail against the fillibuster…but YOU HAD A FILLIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY!!! You literally could have done anything you wanted…maybe you should have passed more Failed Stimulus!
“but didn’t even try to get immigration reform done…”
Which bill? What date? Is that a lie? Really? Give me the bill that was attempted, and failed, to pass the huge majorities…
This claim of a lie may supplant my previous nominee for biggest lie of the week.
“Obama had huge majorities…” Isn’t that true?
No, it’s not true. There was never anything like a huge majority in Congress for immigration reform.
You Progs rail against the fillibuster…but YOU HAD A FILLIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY!!!
No, we didn’t. There was, kinda sorta, a 60-vote Democratic majority for a few months between Specter’s party switch and Scott Brown taking office, but you cannot describe a majority that includes Joe Lieberman, Arlen Specter, and a mostly non-participating Ted Kennedy a progressive majority that can do anything progressives want.
What’s the biggest lie you heard this week?
Anything that came out of Willard’s, or Darrell Issa’s, mouth.
“You are not gaining weight…”
America is the land of the free.
Nearly pissed myself laughing at that one.
“The GOP is a Southern Party”…somehow implying that Holder’s contempt vote was racially motivated.
A lie put forth by desperate Progressives whose only defense of their failed ideology is using ad homenien attacks against their opponents.
Sad.
A lie put forth by desperate Progressives whose only defense of their failed ideology is using ad homenien attacks against their opponents.
You don’t even realize this is irony, do you?
I guess this counts as a lie, at least the statement from Politico sure made me laugh at the absurdity of what they said.
So I posted a link in an earlier thread about Politico suspending one of their only on-air Black WH reporter for saying
So the PTB at Politico suspended ole dude because Politico (and please try not to laugh at this) is
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/06/politico-suspends-reporter-mitt-romney.php?ref=fpnewsfeed
So now there is some fire going around twitter that the reporter is either being dismissed or is no longer gonna be working for Politico and understandaby members of the NABJ (who have had issue with Politico over the lack of
diversity in their journalist) are pissed.
I’ve seen Mr Williams on MSNBC including on Hardball and I think he’s come off as very personable and knowledgeable about the subject and never comes off as “militant” or bias in anyway. Personally, I hope he leaves Politico and finds work a someplace better.
Williams issued a statement:
“I regret that this happened. I understand and respect John Harris’ point of view – that I’ve compromised Politico’s objectivity, and my own. At this point my suspension without pay is still indefinite, and I don’t know what management has in mind as an appropriate sanction, so I can’t object or appeal. Politico still employs me, but the review process hasn’t started in earnest so my future remains unclear.
Having covered the Shirley Sherrod firing and seen the fallout from James O’Keefe’s brand of journalism, I’m not surprised a small group with internet access and an ambitious agenda can affect reporting and distort analysis of political news. It’s quite unfortunate and incredibly frustrating, however, that I landed in the crosshairs this time, calling Politico’s integrity into question and jeopardizing a job and a career that I love.”

The only question I have to ask Williams is: Does he really think Drudgico has any credibility? I’m sure personally he does, since Charles Pierce vouches for him, but the rag as a whole?
I’m thinking for Joe’s it’s a matter of him realizing that there is not many opportunities for Black journo in mainstream media. So he doesn’t want to be black-balled by Politico and be unable to get another job in political journos. There is only so many job available in the urban media. So if he wants to stay in that arena, he’s gotta tread lightly.
besides, isn’t it always recommended that if possible when leaving a job to not totally napalm the end and burn all the bridges you may have built.
True .. but it is interesting that two chumps from WaPo put a happy face on a rag owned by crooks(hard-core GOPer crooks at that) from the Ray-gun era and it was accepted in Versailles like they’d been part of it for 50 years .. kinda weird if you ask me
I’ve heard so many, I couldn’t possibly choose among them.
Politicians? Lie?
Biggest lie?
“The automatic triggers will cut $1.2 trillion from the debt.”
Why? Because what gets cut depends on future Congresses, and even this bunch of Republicans is not going to cut that amount in this year’s and next year’s budget–the only ones for which the commitment is meaningful.
So all of the political machinations to “avoid these Draconian cuts” — either of discretionary spending or of military spending — are just bogus.
And not even good campaigning.
My wife asked if a certain skirt made her butt look big.
I said no. Sue me.
All husbands have to lie on that question if they want to live. At least if they want to reproduce.
Oh, honey, don’t take it out on the skirt.
OT: Sandusky guilty 45 out of 48 charges
That the Kansas City Royals will play .500 baseball this year.
Uh, that Obama didn’t win the election, and that it was stolen. I heard that from my grandmother, who didn’t believe it but asked me wtf people were talking about. I can only assume she was referring to her brother-in-law Richie, a vet on food stamps, who watches Fox News 24/7 and wants Republicans to win for the “good of the country.”
