Who is “Arturo Gilroy?”
I dunno.
I am undecided…due to a lack of sufficient info…about this poster. But I am not undecided about the plain fact that he (or she) is not me, nor has (s)he contacted me in any way whatsoever.
Those of you who have followed my act here know damned well that I am not into scamming on any level. I say what I’m going to say and if you don’t like it…I really don’t give a fuck. Thus there is no reason for me to play jive games with equally jive names.
Take this poster for whatever it’s worth, but don’t imply that I am doing some kind of shapeshifting games.

From the Gilroy Dispatch in California – Human Spirit Can’t Be Fenced In. Gilroy is a city near San Francisco, perhaps Arturo is the West coast version of Arthur Gilroy, with roots in New York.

"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."Gilroy, CA is the self-styled Garlic Capital Of The World. I have always found it ironic that the real “Arthur Gilroy”… my left-leaning NYC Irish grandfather in whose honor I have taken my web name… absolutely hated garlic and hated even more being breathed upon by garlic eaters on the subway. A veteran of the ethnic street wars in NYC…almost every neighborhood had a heavy ethnic presence and it was dog-eat-dog on the neighborhood borders…he somehow managed to combine an absolute and quite automatic loathing of most members of every other major ethnicity in NYC with a fiery leftist spirit regarding how human beings ought to be be treated by government and society. A lovely character, he was. One of a kind, in my experience. The black sheep son of an up-from-the-steets Irish immigrant who hustled his way up through the Tammany Hall machine to the top of the political heap and never got caught with his hand in the till (Thomas F. Gilroy, NYC Mayor 1893-94), Arthur was the only one of the mayor’s 12 children to drop out of the American rat-race. The rest became Wall Street types and/or married rich. Arthur just kinda…lived.
And he read. Hoo boy did he read!!! He and his wonderful, gentle wife Nellie lived with my family when I was a little boy and he taught me how to read and how to love books and language at a very early age. By the time I was in 3rd grade he had me on Mark Twain, the historian Will Durant and H. G. Wells. I never looked back. He rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers, the FDR Democrats and union workers, and we watched the Kefauver hearings on organized crime and the whole rise and fall of that nasty-spirited son of a bitch Joe McCarthy. He pinned Nixon right from the vice-presidential get-go and almost died laughing when Mike Quill…the Irish-born head of the NYC Transit Workers’ Union…defied a judicial order to stop a transit strike in 1966 by saying “The judge can drop dead in his black robes.”
I loved him dearly.

Is this site big enough to have the right wing or intelligence services pay people to troll it? I doubt it. That’s Daily Kos territory. This one’s probably just another freeper of one stripe or another.

You never know. There’s a lot of anonymous money running around this year. No telling where it’s going. That in itself might goose the economy enough for Obama to win (think of the irony). Unless those ads and online campaigns are outsourced/offshored.

If you wanted to create a robot or some other form of semi-mechanized life in the shape of a human and you did not want people to tip to that fact, would you make it in the form of The Terminator or Karl Rove?
