It looks like Congress will have one less alcoholic lunatic in office come next January. Rep. John Sullivan of Oklahoma is going down tonight in a primary. I have no idea if his replacement is any saner, but hopefully he drinks less. In other news, Charlie Rangel survived. What’s on your radar tonight?

I’m happy that Terry Sullivan was reinstated at UVa. That was good news.
I really like John Fugelsang and his role in sub’ng for Spitzer this week has added this reason to my list of reasons why I hope he gets a permanent slot in the Current lineup.
One racist defeated another for Ed Towns old seat tonight. Good to know that Jonathan Alter and some other MSM types approve of racism against Palestinians.
Oklahoma definitely leveled up. His resume is extremely impressive.
He says he and his wife “have three children, Walker (5), Sarah (3), and they are expecting another child in February.” I’ve never seen that before. Even for a right-to-lifer, isn’t the normal thing to say that you have two children and are expecting a third?
Obama’s email:
“I will be outspent” (campaign money wise).
again with Teh FEAR.
sorry, don’t buy it. Obama doesn’t need to outspend Rmoney on the campaign front. that’s about as bogus as it gets– and this again proves the lack of difference between the “two” political parties.
if the GOP held the convention in a giant strip club with naked women dancing in cages, would Messina and the other “experts” say Obama needs to do the same–or he might LOSE??
gimme a break.
I think he WILL be outspent, actually.
And it is generally understood that in the US, the one with the most money tends to win the election.
Organizing 101: Power in a democratic society comes in two forms, organized people and organized money. The more you have of both, the more powerful you are.
correct me if I’m wrong, Obama outraised stumpy McCain in 2008. so the complaining now about “dark money”, and Rmoney outraising Obama ring a bit hollow.
I understand there is a “general understanding”, however I don’t buy that big money always guarantees a win. and insisting on playing the big money game again proves the lack of difference between the dems and repugs. want to impress me? then run the campaign like Wellstone would.
disconnect: the democrats constantly state they are wayyyy better than the repugs. if that is the case, then why do they have to outspend the GOP? and why is this race considered “close”? are you kidding me?
Rmoney is way phonier than bush. the guy is a cardboard cutout for the 1%. if the democrats can’t beat this guy, by a large margin, it again says something about the credibility/strength of the democratic party.
I’d say Charlie Rangel getting less than 50% of the vote is news…but I’d love to hear from folks closer to the scene.
In today’s Fortune magazine article posted at cnn.com, the “Fast and Furious” debacle is examined in exhaustive detail. Boiled down to its essence, the conclusion is (you may want to be sitting down for this): the whole thing is a farrago of half-truths, distortions, and blatant lies concocted for nakedly political agendas:
