     Mourdock has spoken at over two dozen local Tea Party gatherings across Indiana where he gained much name recognition and support in his primary contest against Richard Lugar. In 2011 at a Tea Party Convention in Greenfield, Indiana, where Mourdock spoke, a straw poll of local Tea Party members was taken where Mourdock received 96 of the 97 over Richard Lugar. [20]
     In the week before the contested primary political action groups such as FreedomWorks, the NRA, National Right to Life, along with 45 local Tea Party groups got together at Veterans Memorial Plaza in downtown Indianapolis in what they called “a final 72-hour get out the vote rally ” to “Retire Lugar”. [21] Over 500 Tea party members along with Reverend C.L. Bryant, Deneen Borelli, and FOX News political commentator Michelle Malkin attended the Mourdock rally. [22] At the rally Mourdock said “the support of groups like FreedomWorks has been incredible. They have been from the very beginning helping us, going door to door, they’ve just been critical to all this.” Mourdock also said “There are so many people who wanted to issue the obituary on the Tea Party movement. And I’ll tell you what, the reports of the death have been greatly exaggerated. Because they’re not out waving the banners and standing under the ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ flags now. But what they’re doing is showing up to work for campaigns.” [23] In an interview with FreedomWorks Mourdock said that he has been inspired by the people of the Tea Party movement who have put their hearts and souls in putting this country back on track. [24]
     The Liberty News Network, and America ReFocused are among Tea Party backed organizations supporting Mourdock, the groups have campaigned door to door, sent out mailers and sponsored TV and Radio ads. [25] Other Tea Party supported groups have played a major role in supporting Mourdock’s campaign finances. Mourdock’s largest contributor was the Club for Growth who accounted for 40% of all outside spending, contibuting $2.2 million to Mourdock. [26] According to campaign finance records some of Mourdocks other top donors are the NRA, who contributed $491,000, FreedomWorks For America; $437,000, Citizens United Political Victory Fund; $96,300, and FreedomWorks For America; $437,184. [27]

       And the impression that I get of Tea Partiers in general is not much different from that of Bob Altemeyer’s take: the TP is largely composed of social conservatives – actually Right-Wing Authoritarians would describe them most aptly.

   In Mourdock’s former life as state treasurer, he also thought it would be a great idea to stop the auto bailout and throw thousands of auto workers into the street, not to mention all the small businesses that feed parts into the auto industry.

   As state treasurer, Mourdock more than opposed the Chrysler bailout, he sued to block it, arguing that it would undermine pensions for teachers and state police officers.

   “He single-handedly tried to destroy the auto industry,” Donnelly said in an interview. Donnelly cited his own work with the man Mourdock upended in the bitter Republican primary, six-term Sen. Richard Lugar, to save the auto sector.

   Mourdock defends his actions in an ad in which he calls the bailout “unconstitutional and illegal” and boasts about taking on the federal government. Helping Chrysler, he says, “looted” the pensions of retired police officers and teachers.

   Mourdock’s failed lawsuit cost Indiana taxpayers in the neighborhood of 2 million bucks.

   Well maybe God intended for him to lose this election and to die in a fire. I mean, maybe.

   At least the knuckledraggers who explained to me that “bad things happen to good people” are connecting the dots to real-life policy so everyone can see what a dumb defense “God’s ways are beyond our ways” has always been.

   I’ll semi-retire, and write right-wing retorts all day, then forward to my staff to post!

   It’ll be fun!  I love a challenge!

   Unlike the Murdoch’s of this world, at least God had a plan (or so I’m told) to take care of people in need. Murdoch omits any mention of offering aid after the birth of the child. Sorta polishes off the rape by tossing what’s left out into the streets and turning his back.

   Dick Lugar you are missed.

   “I struggled with it myself for a long time…”.

   The Mourdocks and akins of our current political world are damaged, awful people. What sort of sociopath would force a rape victim to carry a pregnancy from the rapist to term? What sort of sociopath would take the horrible decision they wished to force upon women and describe it as THEIR struggle?

   Romney disagrees with comments, but the campaign refused to respond when asked if Romney still endorses Mourdock

   I guess he needs to see if the polling would help or hurt him first.
