And I used to think Republicans (well of the male politician variety) had no imagination. I just didn’t realize you had to get them thinking creatively about things that apparently they obsess about – a lot.

I have friends who have been raped. Actually, statistics show that all of us probably have friends who have been raped, so I will amend that to say that I have friends that I know have been raped.

And I have been reading stories like this recent post, among others.

I cannot imagine what it would be like to be a rape victim and read or listen to any of this. The attached Young Turks video included. I know he is making a point, but it even makes me a little queasy hearing him say the word ‘rape’ over and over again in such a light tone.

I have relatives that have been raped. I don’t give a damn about his tone. These are the people who want to run the lives of people like my daughter. So I am keeping the video up. I’m sorry it disturbed you.

  To clarify, I wasn’t requesting or suggesting that the video be taken down. I am sorry for not being clear – I consider this far too important of an issue to be censored due to concern trolling. The fact that it has been turned into a political football, and what that must make victims feel like, is what disturbs me. I am wholeheartedly supportive of shouting down, mocking, or otherwise marginalizing people who hold viewpoints like these Republicans do. I don’t think a certain degree of discomfort with the whole thing is anything to be ashamed of though, as long as it doesn’t impede progress.

My ladyfriend of the moment was assaulted in college, and she can barely open her facebook or watch The Daily Show anymore because of these fucking Republicans.
