Not in the least. But it bears repeating because it’s rarely discussed. Of all the stuff GOP racists (there are Dem racists for sure, but that’s not this particular thing) said, this struck me as the most violently racists. “You lie” was simply racially underpinned disrespect. This harkened back to Edward Covey: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Covey
Remember when the president visited Paul Krugman, Bob Herbert, EJ Dionne, Glenn Greenwald, and Seumas Milne on how best to divide and conquer as a Marxist president?
Oh, right:
Obama Tuesday night trekked to the Chevy Chase, Md., home of conservative columnist George F. Will to talk politics and get to know some of his fiercest intellectual adversaries: Charles Krauthammer, William Kristol, Larry Kudlow, David Brooks, Rich Lowry, Peggy Noonan, Michael Barone, and Paul Gigot
You watch and wonder: Why does it always have to be cliffs with this president? Why is it always a high-stakes battle? Why doesn’t he shrewdly re-enact Ronald Reagan, meeting, arguing and negotiating in good faith with Speaker Tip O’Neill, who respected very little of what the president stood for and yet, at the end of the day and with the country in mind, could shake hands and get it done? Why is there never a sense with Mr. Obama that he understands the other guys’ real position?
Remember when “Obamacare” was going to be the epithet that destroyed him, so the GOP provided millions of bucks worth of publicity to cement the policy to the president? Remember when Obama adopted it wholesale, which he never could have done on his own? Good times indeed.
Also, too, remember how Obama is a bad negotiator who negotiates against himself because of some inherent character flaw (or because he’s a sell-out) and that the debt ceiling negotiations were the low point of his presidency and a perfect example of him exhibiting his poor negotiating skills?
Oh, SNAP, if he hadn’t negotiated the way he did, all the whiners at dkos, etc. wouldn’t be able to sit around now rubbing their hands together and talking about how great it is to see the president “fight.”
Newsflash: he never stopped fighting, he just plays a longer game.
Give it 10 years and they’ll be claiming they invented it.
…and that Obama invented the term “Obamacare” to hog all the glory.
And it just needs to be reformed to preserve it for future generations because, otherwise, it won’t survive and no one wants that.
The key part of DeMint’s statement, though, wasn’t the bit about Waterloo. Rather it was “It will break him.”
South Carolina white Senator using slaveowner talk about the President. That really set the tone for the opposition.
and this surprised anyone?

I remember the days before the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare.

Condensed Roberts opinion:
Hey Tea Party. Fuck you!

Oh, right:
So I wonder where Peggy Noonan got this idea:
Declarations
I’m surprised Noonan isn’t ashamed to be such a shameless hack.

If it was, Obama was Wellington.
