If the recent Senate campaign in Massachusetts revealed anything, it was that Scott Brown is not—previous carefully crafted public reputation to the contrary—a “nice guy”. In fact, aside from the (R) after his name on the ballot, Brown’s distinct lack of ability or interest in being a “nice guy” is probably the single biggest reason he’s now former Sen. Brown.
Which is not to say he’ll remain former Sen. Brown for long…not if Scott Brown has anything to say about it. And with a special election expected in June to fill out the remaining 18 months of soon-to-be Sec. of State John Kerry’s current term, Brown has repeatedly and loudly made it clear he’s very interested in rejoining the U.S. Senate.
Of course, criticizing one of his likely opponents, Rep. Ed Markey for spending too much time in Washington when Brown’s wife has a full-time job in Washington probably isn’t going to help Brown any more than did his repeated claims to expertise about Elizabeth Warren’s ancestry.
