I think 60% of my musical sensibilities were formed in the 1970s, and the rest were formed later but involved music made several decades earlier.

Guess the 80’s and 90’s stuff didn’t do much for ya? I’m the exact opposite in that I’m mostly into that “alternative” music from that period. Probably stuck in it at this point. A 90’s alternative rock hippie if that’s at all possible. Isn’t this the guy from Supertramp? The “Magnolia” soundtrack.
I spent the 80’s listening to music that was about 90% made in the 60’s and 70s. The rest was on MTV or WBLS out of New York, which was playing a combo of the end of funk and the beginning of Hip Hop. So, yeah, I had almost no use for contemporary music in the 1980s. In the 1990s, I was a little more current, but not much.I actually listen to more new music today than I have since the 70s.
Sorry, but without the harmonica wailing, it ain’t worth listening to.
That was great. Saw Supertramp at the Mann in Fairmount Park, June 1997. What a great show. It was just amazing to hear those songs live. Cannonball was quite a rush. They were touring behind Some Things Never Change. Go ahead, get it. Amazon will let you download the mp3s immediately, and then send you the CD, too. By then Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson had split. Roger had a spiritual side which didn’t quite jibe with the rest of the band. Breakfast in America was part of the soundtrack to my years in Philadelphia. Supertramp put out a wonderful series of albums back then. Just love their stuff.
