The drive to make “Roadrunner” the official song of Massachusetts is as real as my love for Jonathan Richman’s music.

Never mind “Vincent Van Gogh”, “Affection”, “You Can’t Talk to the Dude”… One of my very favorite artists.
The whole first Modern Lovers album is a masterpiece.
Jonathan Richman is a great songwriter. His humor is not the easiest to tune into, but for those of us who get it, my Lord he’s funny. Never has the delivery of “all right!” in the middle of a song been delivered in a less rousing manner; no one skewers show biz and cultural conventions so terrifically. Love that loooooow-key style.
