Massachusetts voters go to the polls tomorrow to select the nominees to replace John Kerry in the U.S. Senate. When Rep. Stephen Lynch voted against ObamaCare, he was presumably thinking that some big-money boys would reward him with a promotion either to the Senate or to serve as governor. That’s because Rep. Lynch is a moron. Rep. Ed Markey is going to hand Lynch’s anti-choice head to him.
But Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey are not Kenyan socialist Mooslims or anything, so don’t get your hopes up.

Does that mean thy won’t vote for laws reducing flight delays whilst leaving all cuts for the poor untouched? I wouldn’t get my hopes up even if they were Kenyan socialist Mooslims…
If Massachusetts voters go to the polls today, they won’t be able to vote. The primary is tomorrow, Tuesday, April 30th.
….. regardless of who wins: the loser would retain his seat in Congress, correct? So there will not be a ‘death’ of a blue dog.
Were’re running out of Blue Dogs to toss out. Pretty soon someone is going to have to start tossing out Republicans in the Senate.
Looks like Rep. Lynch is calling in sick today . This one’s not even going to be close.
I’d be sick too if I knew I was about to absorb the kind of drubbing he’s going to get.
looks like the spammers are back. I’ll fix this one.
It’s really not fair to call Lynch a blue dog. He is a real champion of labor, which is decidedly not the case for blue dogs. He’s a reliable liberal on economic and fiscal issues.
As this campaign goes on and I learn more about Lynch, I’m liking him or more and more, even though I’ll be voting for Markey. It’s really only in the context of Massachusetts politics that he can be described as a blue dog or a conservadem.
Despite that sentiment being Lynch’s official position (I’m only conservative for MA!), I kind of agree with you.
Still, he’s not good enough for a state that’s able to elect an Elizabeth Warren. Save the Dems-with-an-asterisk (even if it’s only a small one) for the states where that’s the best we can do.
Very true.
I’d argue that someone like him is the best-we-can-do in his South Boston/South Shore district, but we can certainly do better statewide.
Which, come to think of it, is another good reason to vote for Markey.
He’s horrid on women’s issues .. that’s where Lynch’s problems really are .. and for better or worse .. he voted against ObamaCare
Still not sure why progs rallied around Markey in the first place. Should have found someone who voted against the war, at the very least. Given the choices, Markey is obviously better. Still, it’s MA; why are we settling?
Because those are the only two who wanted to run? We aren’t given a choice in Montana, but if Schweitzer had primaried “Mad” Max, Schweitzer is miles ahead of Max even though Schweitzer is a big coal and Keystone XL booster.
Were they? I suppose under the circumstances of it being a special election and not having a chance to recruit, current congresscritters are at a significant advantage. However, I still saw no effort by outside groups to at least look elsewhere. Markey announces, and prog groups rallied.
Markey was the guy who nailed BP during the Gulf spill.
