A $45 million bank heist is very impressive. It’s interesting that the only reason it worked is because the U.S. still uses magnetic strips on bank cards, which means that the rest of the world has to have ATM’s that read magnetic strips.
America, No. 1.
I recall Stanley Rifkin’s $10.2 million heist way back in 1978. Had he not overpaid for the diamonds, the bank and insurer losses would have been minimal. iirc they “ate” $5 million.
In that same era, a really slick robbery only netted half a million, but those guys were never caught.
Meanwhile, a small group of people on Wall Street and elsewhere read the article and snicker at the amateurs.
Minor difference,
These crooks robbed a bank ….
Wall Street uses banks to rob the rest of us.
in Capitalist America, banks rob you.
Come on peeps, where’s the love? I thought this was one of my better efforts. Tough room…
In America comics laugh at audience, comrade.
Arrests made in February $50 million diamond heist. Uncut diamonds must be difficult to pawn.
What’s the alternative to magnetic strip cards?
Cards with chips buit in. Although the chips can probably also be screwed with, I think its harder to do so (not sure, not my area of expertise).
