Well, this is tragic. George Zimmerman’s father has just released an ebook, obviously timed to the beginning of his son’s murder trial. And, in the book, he accuses the NAACP, the National Basketball Players Association, the Black Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Officers, the National Black United Fund, the United Negro College Fund and several black individuals of being racist. He also accuses Eric Holder and President Obama of exploiting the death of Trayvon Martin for political purposes.
Since a lot of people have taken a stake in Zimmerman’s acquittal, I think these accusations will be taken to heart by a lot of people who otherwise would not endorse such radical and divisive positions. It’s really a giant toxic cocktail poured out for white racists to drink. I don’t know if the father has been embittered by the prosecution of his son and all the attendant publicity or if these are the kind of attitudes he inculcated in his son. Either way, they are poison ideas.
I also think it’s a reckless decision to publish something like this that could prejudice a jury, and not likely in his son’s favor.
All I want is a fair trial. We’ll see what the prosecution can prove beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s not an easy case, and it’s quite possible that sufficient doubt about what actually happened will remain that Zimmerman will deserve an acquittal. What I am certain about is that Trayvon Martin did not deserve to die, and that Zimmerman caused his death. In that sense, even a just acquittal won’t be justice.
It tells me that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
His father is a retired judge. Real classy move, and he knows he’s screwing with the jury.
His involvement with this case has had a fishy smell from the very beginning.
A retired judge who’s tight with a lot of the law enforcement and prosecutor’s office folks in that area. Suggesting that they either tolerate this sort of vile racism in their colleagues, or agree with it.
The only real takeaway from that is that the initial handling of the case, in which Zimmerman was released and Martin’s murder not seriously investigated until the international media firestorm that developed over the following weeks, was no accident. I’m skeptical but willing to withhold judgment on the shooting itself. But the official response in real time is the other scandal in this case, one that’s independent of Zimmerman’s innocence or guilt, and as a product of that official culture, dad sure isn’t making anyone look any better.
Well Geov, we finally agree with something all the way down the line.
Having a hard time caring about Zimmerman, mostly due to your last paragraph. His father should have known better. Do black people get a fair trial when they’re on the other end of this bullshit defense? The evidence says not:

Trayvon Martin was stalked, hunted and murdered for the crime of WALKING WHILE BLACK.
He went to the store, minding his own damn business, when he came upon this racist sociopath
that’s about the size of it.
I don’t think that this ebook will have any affect on the trial at all. The only people that will be swayed are those already inclined to support Zimmerman. I actually think it will backfire and turn off many Whites who might otherwise be open minded regarding this trial. People aren’t stupid, it’s his dad, of course he’s trying to sway potential jurors. Plus, the guy is a judge and knows the game. Maybe I’m naive but I just think most folks can see right through this.
Zimmerman’s cousin, the one who says he raped her over the course of ten years, says that Zimmerman’s mother was very racist and so is George. Robert Zimmerman Jr. wrote a racist tweet where he said that “black people mightB risky” and posted a photo of an alleged baby murderer next to Trayvon Martin’s photo with the caption “any questions?”. George Zimmerman called the cops on black people 46 times, including boys as young as 9 years old. Black people in that gated community said they went elsewhere to run because Zimmerman made them feel nervous. He referred to Trayvon Martin as “the suspect” in his written account of the murder.
So yeah, pardon my French, but the Zimmermans are a bunch of fucking racists, and I really hope they find an impartial jury because the evidence is clear as day.
if one good thing has come out of all this, it’s that we’re all getting to find out if there’s any closet racists in our lives. They can’t seem to resist this one.
Yes, this case is a real Rorschach test. If your knee-jerk response is to side with Zimmerman then no other questions need to be asked.
Of course the same can be said the other way – but only to a point. When you learn that Zimmerman was on a personal crusade against “those people” and armed, and Martin was just walking home, well, although we should wait for all facts to be in it is VERY clear that only one of them was looking for violence that day.
Of course this is racism.
Of course this is segregationist power complimented by gun violence. (It’s easier and less messy than lynching but the same.)
Of course this is the new face of vigilante segregation.
Justice and Democracy don’t work when Justice and Democracy is not the intent of all citizens.
Anyone who believes a wannabe cop should be patrolling their neighborhood to keep out “undesirables” is no better than lester mattox (Small case intended) and risks the welfare of all of us.

I’m hoping there’s a civil liability in there somewhere. Would be nice to see the Z family lose their unprotected assets.
The Black Chamber of Commerce is engaging in oppressive racism against this clown’s son? And yes, it’s not lost on me that this clown was a judge for quite a long while. I wonder what kind of “justice” he provided.
But this is the worst: “Zimmerman Sr. says that because of Holder’s decision to investigate whether Trayvon Martin’s death violated federal civil rights laws, the FBI did not have “adequate resources to investigate clearly identified potential terrorist [sic] in the Boston area.” Now, “tragically, we have suffered the consequences of Mr. Holder’s politically motivated decisions.”
This makes Daddy not just the worst person in the world, but the worst rotten motherfucker in the world. What a horrible maggot of a man.
