No, it’s true, they really are crazy. Totally bonkers. Truly gone fishing.

Of the six Yale students who were found guilty of committing sexual assault, just one was suspended. Four others were simply given written reprimands, and one of them was also required to attend a “gender sensitivity” training.
Yeah, that’s ^^ fucking crazy.
Have to agree.
The old boys club at work.
Man. This is great for Major League Soccer but not great for Clint Dempsey and out national team. I was looking forward to another year at Tottenham.
This is some crazy shit, right here.
Seriously!
Welcome to Utah. Wonder if Corky and Mom are still together?
Here’s some extra-critical time-sensitive legislation our Indiana Sen. Coats has been working feverishly on:
Also, blah, blah, blah.
On second thought, Coats looks positively normal compared to some of those other congressional droolers.
Yet, Coats’ stupid stupid stupid Resolution wastes Congressional time. All States are legally required to balance their budgets. No States are at risk of default. So, it’s the standard wingnutty Solution In Search Of A Problem from the dignified Sen. Coats.
Lindsey Graham could have a problem.
This is DELISH.
Pass the popcorn, things are gonna get bitchy.
For a considerable margin of doom and bust eagerness among some commentators there seems to be a growing concern that equity values, at least, are significantly above what economic fundamentals would deem prudent.
If Republicans decide to play chicken with the debt limit in coming weeks they just might bring the roof down on all of our heads. Now that’s crazy. And borderline treasonous if their plea of ignorance weren’t so clearly plausible.
Case in point: Mike Kelly, would he shutdown the government? Would he would default on the debt? Yes and Yes.
The Tea Party has no clue and it would interfere with their rage anyway. Why get counseling when you can join the Tea Party or their sponsors the Republican Party. BTW, Kelley is talking about insurance and contraception? You have to be crazy.
but a logical response of a ruling class losing power – just as when the whites lost political power in South Africa. People do lone runs, cry Armageddon, attribute dark motives to anyone who isn’t a fervent supporter of their cause, fight with their brothers, eat their children – any, ANYTHING, to distract from the central reality that they are losing power.
Holding numerous meaningless votes, not pushing back against crazy supporters, holding the country to ransom over the debt ceiling – all mild stuff, and totally logical. If I can’t have it, then you can’t have it: the logic of the playground. Republicans would rather raise the USA to the ground than have Democrats and their ilk take it over – just as Israel would rather destroy settlements on Palestinian territory than have Palestinians live in them.
Those whom the Gods wish to destroy, they first make mad (Euripides). You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
I’ve been thinking that something like punctuated equilibrium may apply in American politics. Well, probably in history generally. But you’ve got things like the regional reversal in the 1960s, where for about 100 years the Republicans were strong in the North and the Democrats were strong in the South; and then about 50 years ago that flipped.
Of course it’s hard to predict when some kind of punctuation is going to happen, but an entire party going insane may be a sign. This is why I’m not so convinced that the the Republicans are going to hold the House even next year. I’m not convinced they’re going to lose it, either, but there are precedents. The Whigs actually kind of mutated into the Republicans, but the Federalist party collapsed in 1800 and then drifted on as a broken shell through a few more elections before disappearing completely. And they even had redeeming qualities, unlike the current generation of Republicans.
If your thesis of political punctuated equilibrium is correct we could expect Republicans to mutate and speciate into at least two distinct species – perhaps rural, evangelical social conservatives, and globalized neo-conservative, militaristic deregulators and imperialists. I wish for a Dem candidate who could split that broad coalition – perhaps by appealing to small town social conservatives and emphasising that their economic interests do not lie with the neo-imperialists.
I can’t believe that there is anyone who could look at the behavior of the Republicans at this point and not think that they are insane and yet I am not optimistic that we will keep our Maine 2nd CD House seat in the Democratic column and the Governor’s race is shaping up to be another 3-way mess.
I’m not quitting (canvassing today in fact) but this whole mess is beyond discouraging. If we had a functional press instead of one that enables the insanity perhaps things would be different.
And WTF is their end game? Assuming they do successfully destroy the economy and drown the government in a bathtub, then what?
SWAG: By destroying the libtard-hijacked gummint, they take away all the handouts and unfair advantages and free stuff that’s paid for by the outrageous taxes unjustly being ripped from their good American pockets and being given to Those People (you know who I mean), and if Those People don’t like it, if they won’t get off their lazy asses and go get a job, well, they can just damn go back to Mexico and Africa and leave this country to the fine upstanding people who own it, by God! And they can take the queers and the feminazis and the commie squishes with them.
That about it, ya think?
Bullseye!!
In fact, Rush could not have said it any better!
Eeesh. It bothers me that I could whip that out with scarcely a moment’s hesitation.
You were very convincing!!
I don’t see how LePage loses.
The Cutler-leaning or voted-Cutler-last-time voters I’ve talked to are adamant that the solution to political problems is to elect non-politicians, not better politicians.
This nonsense is predicated on the delusion that Cutler is not a politician. Or that Cutler is a home-grown version of a European Social Democrat. Or something else.
The Volvo-MOGFA-and-MPBN voters won’t vote tactically, because this isn’t really politics. This is social signalling by choice in consumer brands and goods.
Michaud is the only New England Blue Dog Democrat, pro-life, and an NRA member. Between the turnpike and salt water, he’ll drive as many people away as he attracts north and west of the Pike.
The Second CD is gone if the GOP have the mother wit to not run a loonie. Raye would win going away if he can get nominated. Looking at Augusta, where the budget passed with bi-partisan support, and the Senate GOP leader writes op-eds attacking LePage and the Tea Partyers, I see a dangerous resurgence of not-barking-mad Republicans.
The problem being, once elected, they vote with the barking-mad ones. (Hi, Sen. Collins!)
Yeah I think it is Raye’s for the taking…ugh. Unfortunately the both sides do it, we need non-politicians who will make Washington work again is incredibly attractive. It really infuriates me that there is so little honesty about the fact that the Republican party is just insane, irresponsible, and incapable of governing.
Totally crazy…Right!! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mokoolapps.babyanimalspuzzles
