Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the painting of the Grand Canyon. The photo that I will be using is seen directly below. I will be using my usual acrylics on a 12×12 gallery-wrapped canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.
Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.
I have added additional paint layers to the central butte. It now appears in a more natural shade. I may have to adjust the shadows a bit before this is done. Those shadows now carry around the the the foreground. To the far rear, the first layer of the shadows have been painted in blue. Progress but there is still much to do.
The current state of the painting is seen directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
This is one series that I continue to look forward to. I grew up in a time when it was quite acceptable to believe that the arts could change the world. It’s an ideal I still hold dear. Your paintings over these last few years have allowed thousands of sets of eyes to view subjects that are either valued natural resources (such as the Grand Canyon) or have some sort of historical or cultural significance. Some will see some nice scenery – others will see nice scenery and ponder our society’s priorities. Keep it up.
Thanks for your very kind comments, dd! I really appreciate your support!
I believe that also…that ‘the arts could change the world’. Without art in all expressions from painting to music-even bad music we keep our humanity and imagination.
No matter what, I look forward every weekend to B2’s painting diary-it always soothes my soul.
Thank you!
It’s funny that the atmospheric or aerial perspective is something painters use and photographers often try to minimize with filters.
We’re attempting to simulate what photographers take for granted. 😉
boran2,
Maybe that`s why I take pictures of paintings.
Let’s consider that for a moment. You’re taking photos of images that attempt to simulate photos. I like it.
boran2,
You got it.
I`m glad you liked my picture of your paintings.
I told you I did that.
