Here’s something to make you lose your faith in humanity:
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Police in South Africa say retired Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s home was robbed while he was away to attend a memorial honoring Nelson Mandela.
A statement Wednesday from the South African Police Service said the robbery of Tutu’s home in Cape Town happened between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. That was the day the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and foe of apartheid spoke at the memorial service at a soccer stadium in Soweto township of Johannesburg.
The statement said: “At this stage, we cannot give further details, as the investigation into the matter is still ongoing. No arrests have been made as yet.”
This kind of reminds me of the murder of Peter Tosh. You would think that no right-thinking Jamaican would rob and murder Peter Tosh, and you’d hope that no right-thinking South African would steal from Desmond Tutu. Yet, this is the second time this year that Tutu’s home has been robbed. In August, he was robbed while he and his wife slept.
These folks better hope that karma is a myth and there is no afterlife.
No doubt a white-dog did it.
No fear.
.
Must have been Bibi who was announced as attendee in the stadium, but never arrived. Archbishop Tutu is no friend of Netanyahu, nor George Bush.
I wouldn’t compare theft with a viscious cold-blooded multiple murder. It is well known in The Netherlands, don’t publish any address in an Obituary, because of the high risk your home will be burglarized.
Worse things happen every second on this beautiful blue planet of humanity.
Some good news stories …

I wouldn’t say karma, since Tutu is an Anglican bishop. But if there’s a judgment day, these folks will be smoking a turd in purgatory.
Capetown is a very dangerous place. Jus’ sayin’
When capitalism dictates the only values, why is this surprising. Does celebrity status insulate you? Or being clergy?
What dramatic inequality does is corrode respect for law. And when the rich show the disrespect for law as flagrantly as in most countries corruption goes all the way to the bottom.
You want to put some karma on someone? How about Jamie Dimon and Llloyd Blankfein and Donald Trump and the Koch brothers? Or the members of Congress stealing people’s pensions?
And the wealth gap in SA is far, far worse than the USA.
Indeed, and it is still severely racialized.
“Right thinking”?
Interesting that a purported liberal would have such a concept.
is that supposed to be clever?
