When your cynicism is confirmed does it make you more or less cynical?
Former Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) will be lobbying for Las Vegas Sands at her firm Lincoln Policy Group, according to new disclosure records.
The casino, which is owned by billionaire and major GOP donor Sheldon Adelson, is pushing Congress to enact a ban on Internet gambling.
Lincoln and her former chief of staff, Robert Holifield, have been lobbying for the casino since Feb. 10, according to the forms.
The former senator’s firm will be working on “[l]egislation that would reinstate the policy banning Internet gambling (i.e. restore the Wire Act),” according to the form.
In January, the Adelson-backed Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling announced that Lincoln would be among its leaders, along with ex-New York Gov. George Pataki (R) and former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb (D).
Yes, we should all be forced to gamble at Sheldon Adelson’s tables, or not at all. Thanks, Blanche, for confirming how we all felt about you.
A shame it takes blatant and irrefutable evidence for so many Democrats to begin to get a clue that neo-lib/neo-con politicians don’t give a rat’s ass about the “have-nots” in the US or anywhere else.
Any Democratic member of Congress that puts out a welcome mat for Ms. Lincoln is also an Adelson collaborator.
–I would actually support bans on internet gambling. Right after reinstating a 90% income tax rate above a reasonable figure such as $500,000 and a 90% estate tax rate above say $5 million. —

It makes you: PRESCIENT
Sum things are sooo easy to predict!
Too true. Although those that laughed at or shunned me in 2002/2003 for pointing out that the probability of WMD in Iraq was close to zero, preferred to see me as a witch when no WMD were found and remain in denial that Bush/Cheney lied and three-quarters of Congress were either in on the lie or stupid.
It’s spelled CYNICISM
It’s pronounced REALISM
English spelling is so crazy, I know. I blame the French.
I’ve always hated her.
I think this further confirms Markos’ point re: Turd Way and their stupid Tiger Beat on the Potomac piece.
Lincoln would have access but I can’t imagine what our inept former governor could bring to the table.
What was it the Rahm Emmanuel said about Democrats who supported the primarying of Blanche Lincoln?
Can we now grant that Jane Hamsher was right about her “make him do it” strategy? Can we also grant that the firestorm about “firebaggers” came out of Lanny Davis’s revenge for being called out by Hamsher as a Third Way sort of shill on MSNBC? And that she was right about Lannie Davis?
Progressives can disagree about short-term tactics, but not all Obama circling-the-wagon tactics had to do with protecting the President. And not all attack-Obama tactics have to do with a progressive agenda. There are “progresssive” parties that see the Democratic Party as the obstacle to their power; that is not a new phenomenon. That is based on the short-term story of competition between progressive parties and Democrats for people who “have nowhere else to go”. The Democratic establishment’s enlarging of that “nowhere else to go and angry” constituency through picking candidates like Blanche Lincoln is going to come back and bite it.
