great tune. I know it because a friend’s band does an awesome cover of it. They do a bunch of Band covers, which always makes me want to grab my horns and pretend I’m Howard Johnson.
had you heard the Springsteen original but not the Band cover?
how many times did Bruce use that line “debts no honest man can pay”? only twice?
Gee, Boo, thanks for that. I knew something great was ahead when I saw the song/artists combo.
Here’s an awesome cover of one of my favorite songs ever- Robbie really rips into this. When a song sounds great with a 21-part arrangement or on solo acoustic guitar, that’s the sign of a superior composition:
I am looking at that story, but I’m waiting until more information comes out. Right now, the articles I’ve seen are pretty light on the details. Early info was wrong in some respects, or at least is no longer being repeated. But I am aware of this story and will follow it.
Perhaps Poland would use fewer rotten apples to make apple juice than China that presses 85% of the apple juice consumed in the US. Or maybe grow more apples here and eat the whole fruit and stop turning it into a product that is as nutritious as sugar water.
questionable. This stuff can’t be good for you but the report is extremely vague about how bad.
honestly, I doubt that anyone has ever made (commercially) juice or preserves out of fruit that could be sold in a grocery store, it’s always second rate stuff. my late wife talked about a summer job long ago cutting apricots for drying; nasty moldy stuff was standard, they were just supposed to cut off the worst parts.
I was unable to recruit candidates to challenge asleep-at-the-wheel Board incumbents who are all running for re-election locally. We could have taken an instant Board majority, too- extremely frustrating.
No one I spoke with likes the current governance this Board has provided; in fact, most activists who live in the jurisdiction are furious with what’s happening. Unfortunately, there’s a toxic combination of intimidation, resignation and lack of knowledge and developed leadership. I’m going to make it one of my missions to get candidates ready for the next two elections, though.
So, that’s on my mind tonight, along with BooMan’s post from earlier this week reminding us that cynicism is the cheap way out.
FYI (in case you weren’t already aware): There are some great Springsteen covers, including David Bowie’s take on “It’s Hard to Be a Saint in the City,” on a tribute album entitled “One Step Up/Two Steps Back.”
You can also find some pretty cool covers of Springsteen songs on “Light of Day.”

Well, the Boss’s version is one of my favorite songs ever.

You play tuba, baritone sax, fluegelhorn and pennywhistle?
Good on ya!!!

P.S. Howard is one of my oldest friends. If he can’t play it, it ain’t worth playing.
tuba and bari sax, not the others. Not that I’m claiming any great skills, I didn’t say I had the ability to pretend I was Howard.
From what I hear (read on the internet, actually), AG is a pretty accomplished teacher.
Do you know Larry Fishkind?
Not personally.

Been reading and having the heart broken about the unarmed Black teenager gunned down while having his hands raised in Missouri

“Freedom apples”:
Poland asks US to buy apples banned by Russia.

Is it actually harmful to use rotten apples to make apple juice?

Local apple farms with a press made the best cider and the apples that went into it may not have been the nicest looking but they were fresh.
true. i’ve had excellent locally made apple juice/cider.
Just about any food product imported from China scares me, mold is the least of it.
I’m seeing that Russian Senior dating service ad again.
