This seems appropriate:
I don’t know if I loved Cocker’s appearances on Saturday Night Live more than John Belushi’s imitations of Cocker’s appearances on Saturday Night Live, but I have fond memories of that era.
I remember that Cocker once explained why he quit drugs and got sober by saying, “You can only bang your head against a wall for so long before it hurts.”
So true.
I am not sure exactly why, but I find this news particularly sad. I grew up listening to Joe Cocker, and he was never one of my very favorite artists during my youth. But his passing kind of hurts more than I would have expected.
But this is just how I will always remember him. His body, in addition to his voice, was his instrument.
RIP, Joe. With a little help from your friends.
I was sad to hear of his passing, too. The icons of my generation are aging and dying, and it’s hard to see them go. His voice was like sandpaper, but it was all his.
RIP, Mr Cocker.
The passing of Joe will hurt the kids in this area…Joe’s, “Cocker’s Kids” was a successful group for the poorer kids around the nation…He and Pam were active in our North Fork area, and were always warmly greeted by everyone…My thoughts go out to Pam…Joe and Pam have been terrific neighbors, and I really hope Pam decides to stay in our area…The Mad Dog Ranch is really a beautiful property…RIP neighbor…
RIP Joe C You and your music always brought back the good times and memories. Easy stress free times. Good bye old friend.
