In a just world, everything Senator Ted Cruz says would be met with the same stone-faced silence that greeted his inane remarks at the International Association of Firefighters conference yesterday.
And the reaction afterwards would be the same.
“I had to take a shower after listening to that,” said Washington state IAFF leader Ricky Walsh.
But this is not a just world.
Why was he invited? I’m curious of their reasoning. I bet Scott Walker would be similarly received.
Scott Walker was invited but didn’t attend. Its a presidential summit/legislative conference. Biden and Sen. Warren both spoke too.

Thank you!!
They invited that union busting asshole? Heads should roll.
Why? Dare him to put his anti union routine to firefighters and see how the public takes it.
Its been my sad experience that the public thinks we’re America’s Heroes until we ask for something that adds a couple of cents to their property tax bill. I’m still steaming mad over an relatively tiny initiative last year that was killed by a remonstrance of just 10 property owners.
He was truly lost without approving audience feedback. A skilled pol or speaker can ad lib his/her way through unexpectedly silent moments, but Cruz has nothing but a bunch of red meat, hollow one liners.
Shtick for the base, not so much for other folks. Seriously, why would a group of public employees cheer for another group of public employees being placed at the border?
As a former IAFF member, I think I’d have had to turn my back on this one. Also, I’d want to know who’s bright idea it was to invite the fool.
Someone clever enough to see that Cruz would repulse them.
the video is hilarious
Tough Room.
In a just world, he’d be pelted with fruit.
Cantaloupe seems about right.
Nice firm cantaloupe that hasn’t ripened yet.
And tomatoes.
